Network Interface Devices. 7.1 Effective as of February 8, 2021, notwithstanding any other term or condition of the Amended Agreement or a Verizon tariff or SGAT, and subject to the transitional provisions set forth in Subsection 7.2 below, NIDs are not available as UNEs from Verizon on or after February 8, 2021. 7.2 Any NIDs purchased as UNEs before February 8, 2021 will continue to be provisioned through February 7, 2024 at the rates that apply under this Agreement, unless discontinued by Customer or terminated by Verizon for any reason permitted under this Agreement or any tariff referenced herein (e.g., for non-payment). After February 7, 2024, Verizon will no longer provide or maintain any NIDs as UNEs.

  • Network Interface Device 2.7.1 The NID is defined as any means of interconnection of the customer’s premises wiring to BellSouth’s distribution plant, such as a cross-connect device used for that purpose. The NID is a single line termination device or that portion of a multiple line termination device required to terminate a single line or circuit at the premises. The NID features two (2) independent ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ or divisions that separate the service provider’s network from the customer’s premises wiring. Each chamber or division contains the appropriate connection points or posts to which the service provider and the customer each make their connections. The NID provides a protective ground connection and is capable of terminating cables such as twisted pair cable. 2.7.2 BellSouth shall permit NewPhone to connect NewPhone’s Loop facilities to the customer’s premises wiring through the BellSouth NID or at any other technically feasible point.

Availability of the interfaces is fundamental to the CLEC being able to effectively do business with GTE. Additionally, in many instances, CLEC personnel must work with the service personnel of GTE. Measurements in this category assess the availability to the CLECs of systems and personnel at GTE work centers.
