NEW OCEAN USES Clause Samples

The "New Ocean Uses" clause defines how the parties will address activities or developments in the ocean that were not anticipated or covered by the original agreement. This clause typically outlines procedures for notifying the other party, seeking approval, or renegotiating terms if a new use—such as offshore wind farms, aquaculture, or new shipping routes—arises within the area governed by the contract. Its core function is to provide a framework for adapting the agreement to evolving circumstances, ensuring that both parties have a clear process for managing unforeseen changes and minimizing disputes over new or emerging ocean activities.
