NON-TEACHING DUTIES. The Board and the Association acknowledge that a teacher’s primary responsibility is to provide learning experiences and that his/her energies should be channeled into this responsibility to the fullest extent. Therefore, they agree that: 1) All full-time elementary teachers shall be provided with no less than one fifty (50) minute period per day exclusively for planning and preparation with exception to the shortened school day (Wednesday) plan- ning periods will be equal throughout the day. All full-time 6th Grade Academy, 7th and 8th Grade Academy, and high school teachers shall be provided with no less than one period per day exclusively for planning and preparation. All full-time ARJH teachers shall be provided with no less than one period per day exclusively for planning and preparation. All teachers who travel from one site to another in the same day as part of their teaching assignment, excluding coaches who travel for their sport, shall be given a minimum of twenty-five (25) minutes for travel. Non-teaching duties shall not be assigned to teachers who have both elementary and secondary teaching assignments in the same day. The time length of planning periods at the 6th Grade Academy, 7th and 8th Grade Academy, and high school high school and the junior high schools are determined by the length of a normal instructional class period. If the length of this period is changed the time for planning will also change. A Counselor, Teacher Trainer, ISP teacher, REIP teacher, or and Registered Nurse will not receive a planning period. T h e MEA President, ISP teacher, REIP teacher, and Registered Nurse will not be assigned duty. A Counselor may only be assigned a.m. duty. 2) Every effort will be made to assure that a teacher’s planning period is used for its intended purpose. 3) Every effort will be made to relieve and/or make equitable extra assignments to be performed before or after school, and, 4) Every effort will be made by administrators to assign assistants and clerical help to relieve teachers of non-teaching duties such as: a. Non-professional assignments, including but not limited to, milk distribution, supervision of cafeterias, sidewalks, bus loading, or unloading or playgrounds. b. Collecting money from students, and c. Inventorying and storing books, delivering books to classrooms, duplicating instructional and other materials, keeping registers and cumulative record cards and other clerical and/or custodial functions. 5) There will be uniformity of teacher extra-duty assignments so that there will be consistency for all teachers throughout the entire school system.

Due to the age of preschool children, teachers will be flexible in the definition of “duty” minutes. At the beginning of the school year, and at other appropriate times, all preschool teachers will have bus duty before and after school. • Outside time will be considered instructional time for preschool teachers. • Quiet Time and Snack time shall be considered duty minutes and supervised by teachers. However, the parties agree to be flexible in regards to the expectations during these times. This time can be used for planning and preparation with exception time if the children do not need the teacher’s assistance. • Preschool Teachers shall be required to change diapers of non-potty trained students. This requirement will be disclosed to all applicants prior to the shortened school day (Wednesday) plan- ning periods will be equal throughout applicants accepting a position at the dayschool. 5. All full-Where there are exceptional demands upon a particular individual for time 6th Grade Academyover and beyond that which is considered a reasonable working load, 7th and 8th Grade Academythe principal shall attempt to adjust the individual’s work load by eliminating such assignments as cafeteria duty, and high school teachers shall be provided with no less than one period per day exclusively for planning and preparation. It is understood that, in such cases, the Committee will furnish the additional coverage necessary to make up the difference between the prescribed amounts and the insurance the bargaining unit member is carrying.

Teachers performing non-teaching duties outside the parameters of the regular pupil day shall continue to receive equal amounts of compensatory time as currently practiced, equal amounts of released time which may be deducted from the time teachers are required to remain after the end of the pupil day. A uniform record keeping system shall be developed and employed and a log showing compensatory time earned and taken will be uniformity presented to the Association at the end of teacher extra-each month. Administrators will not unreasonably withhold approval of compensatory time. C. If the Board utilizes aides for lunch, lunch duty, recess coverage and p.m. bus duty assignments so that there will coverage in grades Preschool through 6, then when such aides are absent, teachers may be consistency for all teachers throughout required to substitute on a rotating basis. Such insurance shall be in excess of individual teacher's personal primary liability insurance coverage. E. Any teacher who is assigned and performs extra duties extending beyond the normal school day shall be paid $37.00 per hour for this non-teaching duty. Such duties are to include scheduled dances, plays, concerts, graduations, and participation in parent-teacher association or organization programs. "Visit the school nights" are not included as "extra duties". However, any required "Visit the school nights" beyond one (1) There will shall be uniformity compensated at the rate of teacher $37.00 per hour. Days scheduled for "Visit the school nights" shall be one session days, unless the “Visit the School Night” is held virtually with the teachers presenting from a location of their choice. F. Teacher participation in extra-curricular activities which extend beyond the regularly scheduled in-school day may be required by the Board and shall be compensated according to the rate of pay in Schedules "B" and "C". G. Volunteers shall be sought for the position of Saturday detention monitor. These monitors shall be compensated at the extra duty assignments so rate. No teacher shall be assigned to this duty. H. There shall be no phone or computer use for personal reasons during pupil contact time. I. If there is a short-term vacancy for a non-teaching certified staff member during the September 1 to June 30 school year, every effort should be made to replace the vacant non-teaching certified staff member position. In the event that another member or members assumes the responsibilities for the member, the member or members shall be paid at their per diem rate. J. In the event there will is an overnight field trip or an extended day field trip, every school employee shall be consistency for all teachers throughout paid $37.00 per hour starting one hour after the entire end of the school systemday up to a maximum of $259 per night.

All full-time ARJH teachers shall be provided with no less than one (1) period per day exclusively for planning and preparation. All teachers who travel from one site to another in the same day as part of their teaching assignment, excluding coaches who travel for their sport, shall be given a minimum of twenty-five (25) minutes for travel. Non-teaching duties shall not be assigned to teachers who have both elementary and secondary teaching assignments in the same day. The time length of planning periods at the 6th Grade Academy, 7th and & 8th Grade Academy, and high school high school and the junior high schools are determined by the length of a normal instructional class period. If the length of this period is changed the time for planning will also change. A Counselor, Teacher Trainer, ISP teacher, REIP teacher, or and Registered Nurse will not receive a planning period. T h e The MEA President, ISP teacher, REIP REPI teacher, and Registered Nurse will not be assigned duty. A Counselor may only be assigned a.m. duty. 2) Every effort will be made to assure that a teacher’s planning period is used for its intended purpose. 3) Every effort will be made to relieve and/or make equitable extra assignments to be performed before or after school, and, 4) Every effort will be made by administrators to assign assistants and clerical help to relieve teachers of non-teaching duties such as: a. a) Non-professional assignments, including but not limited to, milk distribution, supervision of cafeterias, sidewalks, bus loading/unloading, or unloading or playgrounds. b. b) Collecting money from students, and c. c) Inventorying and storing books, delivering books to classrooms, duplicating instructional and other materials, keeping registers and cumulative record cards and other clerical and/or custodial functions. 5) There will be uniformity of teacher extra-duty assignments so that there will be consistency for all teachers throughout the entire school system.

NON-TEACHING DUTIES. The Board Committee and the Association acknowledge that a teacherbargaining unit member’s primary responsibility is to provide learning experiences teach and that his/her energies should be channeled into this responsibility should, to the fullest extentextent possible, be utilized to this end. However, decisions made by the administrators, in the best interest of the children and the Town of Millbury, shall determine services provided by the teaching staff in the areas of non- teaching duties and student supervision. Therefore, they agree thatas follows: A. To the extent deemed possible, bargaining unit members will not be required to perform the following duties: 1) All full. Collecting money from studentsstudents for non-educational purposes. Although bargaining unit members may be required to collect and transmit money to be used for educational purposes, and c. Inventorying and storing books, delivering books they will not be required to classrooms, duplicating instructional and other materials, keeping registers and cumulative record cards and other clerical and/or custodial functionstabulate or account for such money. 5) There 7. Elementary bargaining unit members will not be required to remain in the classroom when the class is being taught by a specialist (e.g., art, music, physical education, media, etc.). 8. Elementary specialists will be uniformity assigned preparation time commensurate with the time assigned other bargaining unit members at the same grade level(s). Travel time will not be considered preparation time. B. Bargaining unit members will not be required to drive pupils to activities which take place away from the school building. Bargaining unit members may do so voluntarily, however, with the advance approval of teacher extra-duty assignments so that there the Superintendent or his/her designee. The bargaining unit member will be consistency for all teachers throughout covered by liability insurance to the entire school systemlimits prescribed by the Committee. It is understood that, in such cases, the Committee will furnish the additional coverage necessary to make up the difference between the prescribed amounts and the insurance the bargaining unit member is carrying.
