Opening to Traffic Sample Clauses
The 'Opening to Traffic' clause defines the conditions under which a completed section of a construction project, such as a roadway or bridge, may be made accessible for public or vehicular use before the entire project is finished. Typically, this clause outlines the standards that must be met for safety, signage, and temporary measures, and may require inspections or approvals from relevant authorities prior to opening. Its core practical function is to ensure that partially completed infrastructure can be safely and efficiently utilized, minimizing disruption and maximizing public benefit while construction continues elsewhere.
Opening to Traffic. Do not permit traffic over sealed joints without the approval of the Engineer.
Opening to Traffic. For normal strength patches, do not open the repaired area to traffic until the concrete has obtained a minimum compressive strength of 3,000 pounds per square inch, when tested according to PTM No. 604.
1. Test concrete for compressive strength according to PTM No. 604, at the time of opening to traffic but no later than 7 hours after the test specimens were molded. Concrete lots that have not attained a minimum compressive strength of 1,200 pounds per square inch at the time of opening to traffic will be considered defective work.
