Common use of Operations Technicians Clause in Contracts

Operations Technicians. In addition to performing the roles and responsibilities of an Operations Mechanic, the following additional responsibilities will be a proper assignment for an Operations Technician: • Leak equipment calibration • Pin gauge calibration • Setting/observing/removing gauges, e.g., survey gauges • Turn-Ons (for diaphragm meters only) • Turn Offs • Leak repair by standard process in conjunction with the proper assignments associated with the Operations Technician position • Fix Factors • Differentials • Service (Curb Valve) Valve Inspection • Single regulator commercial industrial inspections (B34s and any regulators that have an internal relief valve similar to the B34) • Installing/revising meter sets (1000 meter sets or less) • On the job mentoring of Operations employees All work listed above is considered proper 1-person work for Operations Technicians. In the event an Operations Technician requests assistance to complete a task listed above and assistance is provided it will not preclude the Technician from completing the work. A planned assist should come from Field Operations. All current and future Operations Technicians shall be trained and qualified to perform the above work assignments. Successful completion of training and certification including all of the responsibilities above shall be a requirement for all future Operations Technicians. In situations where Operations Technicians are scheduled to perform their responsibilities referenced above, during planned scheduled overtime, the Company will offer System Operations employees from the reporting center where the overtime work is being performed the opportunity to work overtime first, except when such overtime work is incidental to the Operations Technicians’ entire day of planned overtime. Also excluded from such overtime work opportunities are (1) incidental overtime job assignments; and (2) incidental extended day job assignments, when an Operations Technician works overtime during his/her regular schedule. An Operations Technician will not be called out to perform the responsibilities referenced above until all eligible System Operations employees have been offered the overtime opportunity first, consistent with existing call out practice. If an Operations Technician is already out in the field, he/she is to be available to respond or to assist in the Company’s exclusive discretion on the above listed proper assignment for an Operations Technician. Operations Technicians that have not performed the above additional responsibilities assigned to the Operations Technician job classification within the calendar year, will be required to demonstrate proficiency in such tasks within that same calendar year. The Company will maintain at least 20 Operations Technicians (not including the Resident Techs) for the duration of the current (CBA) agreement.

In the event an Operations Technician requests assistance to complete a task listed above and assistance is provided it will not preclude the Technician from completing the work. A planned assist should come from Field Operations. An unplanned assist could also come from System Operations. All current and future Operations Technicians shall be trained and qualified to perform the above work assignments. Operations Technicians that have not performed the above additional responsibilities assigned to the The Company will fill sufficient Operations Technician job classification within positions to reach a total of 25 (including incumbents). Once 25 are filled, the calendar year, will be required to demonstrate proficiency in such tasks within that same calendar year. The Company will maintain at least 20 17 Operations Technicians (not including the Resident Techs) for the duration of the current (CBA) agreement. Operations Mechanics shall not be trained or upgraded to Operations Technician until such time as the Company fills 25 Operations Technician positions.
