OTHER PARENT. An employee who is the other parent shall be entitled to up to thirty-seven (37) consecutive weeks of parental leave without pay. The employee shall take the leave within fifty-two (52) weeks of the child's birth or date the child comes within the care and custody of the employee.

OTHER PARENT. Parental Leave is provided to eligible Employees in accordance with the Act, where an Employee takes unpaid leave in connection with the birth of their child and/or to be the primary carer of that child in the first 52 weeks of its life, retaining the right to return to their job. Other Parent Parental leave can be taken as short leave and/or extended leave: (a) Short Other Parent Parental leave is a single, unbroken period of unpaid leave of up to one week taken by an Employee within the week starting on the day their spouse begins to give birth; and (b) Extended Other Parent Parental leave is a single, unbroken period of unpaid leave, other than short leave, taken by an Employee after their spouse gives birth to a living child so that the Employee can be the child's primary care-giver. The maximum total amount of Other Parent Parental leave (including short leave and extended leave) to which an Employee is entitled in relation to the birth of a child by their spouse is 52 weeks, less any annual leave or long service leave taken by the Employee in conjunction with the period of Other Parent Parental leave.
