Overdraft Courtesy Policy Clause Samples

The Overdraft Courtesy Policy outlines the terms under which a financial institution may cover transactions that exceed a customer's available account balance. Typically, this policy details which types of transactions are eligible for overdraft coverage, such as checks, debit card purchases, or automatic bill payments, and may specify any associated fees or limits. By establishing clear guidelines for handling overdrafts, the policy helps customers understand when and how their transactions may be approved despite insufficient funds, thereby reducing confusion and managing expectations regarding potential fees and account management.
Overdraft Courtesy Policy. Overdraft Courtesy is an option for certain Accounts that are in good standing. It is not a line of credit. With Overdraft Courtesy, the Bank may in its sole discretion pay certain Items that overdraw your Account, such as checks and automatic bill payments. The Bank’s payment of Overdrafts is not guaranteed with Overdraft Courtesy, and it may cease at any time without prior notice or cause. ATM and everyday debit Card transactions are not eligible for Overdraft Courtesy unless you opt in to such coverage. If you opt in to this Overdraft Courtesy coverage, we may in our discretion pay an ATM or everyday debit Card transaction that exceeds your Available Balance and we will charge you a fee for the Overdraft. If you do not opt in to this Overdraft Courtesy coverage, or you revoke your consent, we will decline any ATM or everyday debit Card transactions that exceed the Available Balance in your Account and you will not be charged a fee. An “everyday” debit Card transaction is a single, non-recurring transaction. Examples include transactions at a merchant location or purchases made by telephone or online. You also have the option to cancel Overdraft Courtesy and direct the Bank to return Items that would cause an Overdraft. Overdraft Courtesy Policy. The Bank is not obligated to pay any item presented for payment if your account does not contain sufficient available funds. Any payment by the Bank of a non-sufficient fund check or checks, debit transactions, electronic funds transfer (or other item) does not obligate the Bank to pay an additional or subsequent non-sufficient fund check, debit, electronic transfer or item. Certain products are not eligible for overdraft courtesy. For additional information on which products are eligible, please contact the Client Care Center at ▇-▇▇▇-▇▇▇-▇▇▇▇.
