Common use of Ownership of Work Clause in Contracts

Ownership of Work. Subject to County's obligation to compensate Contractor, all work, reports, designs, drawings, renderings and other work product produced by Contractor in connection with the Project shall belong to County and Contractor shall not use any part thereof for purposes other than the Project without the written consent of County.

These direct Work documents specifically excludes the Contractor’s preexisting works and/or prepared information developed by Contractor or acquired by Contractor that was not specifically developed for County.

Any use of such documents by the County for other than their specific intended purpose shall be at the sole risk of County and without liability to Contractor. This section does not restrict the Consultant’s use of any work that is in the public domain.
