PART-TIME EDUCATORS. 9.1. Educators may request, through their principal, a reduction in contract time. Principals may recommend approval to the superintendent, provided ii is reasonable and benefits the school district and does not negatively impact programs and curriculum. Requests must be submitted by February 1 of the year prior to the reduced FTE. Exceptions will be considered after this date only for unique circumstances such as illness or injury. 9.1.1. Part-time educators' schedules will be established by the building principal and approved by the superintendent. The needs of students within the school's educational program shall be of primary concern, and any arrangement must be compatible with DISTRICT philosophy and goals. (See definition of "part-time educators" in Section 4.3.) 9.1.2. Educators working at least one-half time (.50 FTE) but less than .68 FTE, shall receive one full step on the salary schedule every two years. Educators working al least .68 FTE shall receive a full step increase for the following year. 9.1.3. Return to full-time status from part-time status shall be dependent upon the availability of a position.
