Permits and training. If the employer directs the employee to perform work tasks that require a permit card or qualification, such as a plant protection qualification, hygiene passport, occupational safety card, EA1 first aid qualification, hot work licence, AS1 first- aid extinguishing card, forklift operator card or roadwork safety card, the employer is obligated to ensure that the employee has the appropriate permit card or to arrange the necessary training before starting the work task. When an employer directs an employee to perform a work task that requires a permit card or a qualification, the employer is responsible for the costs of the training, travel and accommodation costs and lost earnings during the training.
