Personal Necessity. In case of personal necessity, a member of the unit may draw on accumulated sick leave not to exceed seven (7) days in any fiscal year for any one or any combination of the following purposes: a. Additional days beyond the three (3) or five (5) of bereavement leave granted in paragraph 10.4, or for bereavement of a relative not covered under paragraph 10.4. b. Accident involving the employee's person or property or the person or property of the employee's immediate family. c. Appearance in court or before an administrative tribunal as a litigant. d. Religious holidays other than legal holidays on the Board-adopted calendar. e. Imminent danger to his/her home occasioned by an event such as flood or fire, serious in nature, which under the circumstances the employee cannot reasonably be expected to disregard, and which requires the attention of the employee during his/her assigned hours of service. f. Such other reasons as approved by the District. 10.5.1 Two (2) of the seven (7) personal necessity days may be used at the employee’s discretion without prior approval.
