Plea of Nolo Contendere Clause Samples

A Plea of Nolo Contendere, also known as a "no contest" plea, allows a defendant in a criminal case to accept conviction without admitting guilt. In practice, this plea enables the defendant to avoid a formal admission of wrongdoing, which can be beneficial if there are related civil lawsuits, as the plea generally cannot be used as evidence of liability in those proceedings. The core function of this clause is to provide defendants with a way to resolve criminal charges while minimizing potential repercussions in subsequent legal actions.
