Post Graduate Certificate for All Trainees. A key theme of the Refresh Process (see appendix 2) was that all trainees need to be a leader first and foremost. With this in mind, all 2011 trainees will undertake a Post Graduate Certificate in Leadership for Improvement. It is envisaged that this qualification will then form the basis of the Masters for general management trainees. Key Points on the Post Graduate Certificate: All trainees will complete the Leadership for Improvement qualification (however if we find that this impacts adversely upon a trainee‟s ability to successfully complete their specialism qualification then there would be an option to opt out of the qualification at the front end but undertaking the learning and then be assessed at a later date). Inputs may need to start being delivered during / after orientation and around specialism qualifications. We are looking for Tenderers to provide innovative solutions as to how the learning could be delivered. Any assessment requirements may be spread over a longer period, but dialogue will be required with other education providers to ensure a joined-up approach; Potential to open up the qualification to GP Consortia staff, clinical colleagues and other NHS staff to ensure inclusion and multi-disciplinary working.
