Preliminary Cost and Schedule Estimates Clause Samples

The Preliminary Cost and Schedule Estimates clause establishes the requirement for the contractor or service provider to deliver initial projections of project expenses and timelines before work begins. Typically, this involves preparing and submitting a detailed breakdown of anticipated costs and a proposed schedule for completing key project milestones, which may be subject to later revision as more information becomes available. The core function of this clause is to provide both parties with a baseline understanding of expected project scope, budget, and timing, thereby facilitating informed decision-making and helping to manage expectations and risks early in the project lifecycle.
