Common use of Preliminary Screening Clause in Contracts

Preliminary Screening. An initial environmental examination of a proposed development for potential significant adverse environmental, social and cultural impacts, and public concern, conducted pursuant to section 124 of the MVRMA. The process through which new studies generate required information for analysis and consideration. In its Report of Environmental Assessment, the Review Board proposes measures to mitigate a specific impact on the environment below the level of significance. A First Nation, local government, regulatory authority, department or agency of the federal or territorial government affected by the measure shall act in conformity with it to the extent of their respective authorities (MVRMA section 130(5)).
