Preparation of materials for storage. Basic physical processing of materials being added to collections is part of the ongoing responsibilities of the applicant. Discretionary grant funds may be used for binding, matting, boxing, or other protective enclosures. Storage materials made from paper should adhere to ANSI Standard Z39.48 - 1992. Paper materials to be used for the storage of photographic images should also pass the Photographic Activity Test (PAT). ANSI IT.9-16.

When the good is subject to a requirement of regional value content, the value of these packaging materials and containers shall be taken into account as originating or non-originating materials, as the case may be, in calculating the regional value content of the good.
