Primary Hypothesis Clause Samples

The Primary Hypothesis clause defines the main assumption or proposition that underpins an agreement, research project, or contractual arrangement. In practice, this clause clearly states the central idea or expected outcome that the parties are basing their actions or obligations on; for example, in a research contract, it might specify the scientific theory being tested, while in a business agreement, it could outline the key market assumption driving the deal. By explicitly identifying the primary hypothesis, this clause ensures all parties have a shared understanding of the foundational premise, thereby reducing ambiguity and aligning expectations throughout the duration of the agreement.
Primary Hypothesis. These studies are intended to assess whether there is a difference between patients treated with OCA and comparable OCA-eligible patients who are not treated with OCA in the time from index to the first occurrence of all-cause death, liver transplant, or hospitalization for hepatic decompensation. Two-sided hypotheses are expressed in terms of: • The null hypotheses (H0) that the 2 hazard functions are the same, as determined by a hazard ratio (HR) equal to 1; that is, at every timepoint, the instantaneous event rates are the same for the OCA and control populations. • The alternative hypothesis (H1) that the 2 hazard rates are not the same (𝐻𝑅 ≠ 1).
