Procedure Step 1. The parties acknowledge that it is most desirable for any employee and the immediate supervisor to resolve problems through free and informal communications. Within thirty (30) work days after the grievant has knowledge, or reasonably should have had knowledge, of the grievance which is the basis of the complaint, the grievant shall present the grievance in writing to the immediate supervisor, who will arrange for a meeting to take place within five (5) work days after receipt of the grievance. The supervisor shall provide the aggrieved party and the Union with a written answer to the grievance within ten (10) work days after the meeting. Such response shall include the reason(s) upon which the decision was based.
