PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Schedule A and subject to the provisions of Schedule A, which is attached to, and incorporated in, this Agreement. 1. The salary Schedule A. I. is for a normal teaching load as defined in Article VI. For extra duty which has received prior administrative approval, the teacher shall be entitled to appropriate professional compensation: in compensatory time; through a teacher's hourly rate as defined in ¶ B.3; or in accordance with Sections E or F of this Article; or as listed in Schedule A. II, as may be applicable. The administration shall establish a system-wide list of additional activities for which compensatory time will be available and the amount of compensatory time associated with each. This list shall be updated with HEA input on a yearly basis and be distributed to teachers at the start of each school year. 2. Compensatory time is defined as personal leave earned by extra duty, and may be substituted for monetary payment equal to the teacher hourly rate as defined in ¶ B.3. a. Accrued compensatory time may be used at the discretion of the teacher provided that, compensatory time shall not be scheduled for use on more that three (3) consecutive school days. Furthermore, compensatory time may not be scheduled contiguous to Christmas, mid- winter and/or spring break. Exceptions for special circumstances my be granted by the signed approval of the building principal and contingent upon substitute availability. Within five (5) days the teacher must confirm with the building principal that a substitute has been obtained. b. Compensatory time shall be credited and deducted as follows: For substitution at the High School, Middle School, and Elementary level during a teacher’s planning period or specials time, a “unit” of instruction shall be credited and deducted in whole units. Five (5) “units” of instruction shall equate to one compensatory “day”. Compensatory time can only be earned and used in whole “units”. c. A teacher may carry over a maximum of the equivalence of ten (10) days of accumulated compensatory time to the next school year. Should a teacher have more than ten (10) days of compensatory time accumulated at the end of the school year the teacher shall have the option of either converting his/her compensatory time he/she has accumulated beyond the ten (10) day carry over maximum into sick time at a one (1) compensatory day (or portion thereof) to one (1) sick leave day (or portion thereof) conversion rate or to receive compensation as described in ¶ B2(d) below. For purposes of this provision, five (5) units (at the secondary level) or five (5) hours (elementary level) of compensatory time will equate to one day of compensatory time. d. At any time, a teacher may trade compensatory time at the teacher hourly rate as defined in ¶ B.3 for each “unit” of compensatory time. e. A time log will be kept by the administration. Scheduling of substitutes will not be the responsibility of the teacher. f. A uniform procedure will be established for the processing of requests for compensatory time to the Assistant Superintendent, with the recommendation of the building principal. The decision of the Assistant Superintendent granting or denying the request shall be made in writing with a copy provided to the teacher. 3. The teacher's hourly rate is defined as .0009 of the B.A. 1 step salary. It will serve as a unit from which payment or a stipend for compensatory time and extra duty can be derived. It is not required that such pay be on a unit per hour worked basis. C. The school calendar with legal holidays and vacation periods will be as listed in Schedule B. There shall be no deviation from this agreed schedule without mutual agreement between the Board and Association. D. At the discretion of the administration, up to three teachers (the grievant and two others) may be released from regular duties during the school day without loss of pay or benefits for the purpose of discussing and/or processing a grievance, or for other matters with the agreement of both parties. E. 1. At the beginning of the school year, each teacher may sign up to receive either the amount specified in ¶ B.3, or the compensatory time for substitute teaching. Such selection may be amended, in writing, at any time during the school year.

Teachers who receive an Ineffective overall evaluation rating shall not be moved to the next step on the pay scale for the school year immediately following the Ineffective rating. H. Teachers will receive a payment on the next pay date following the first day on which all Teachers are required to report for duty, provided that the Teacher actually reports for work. Payments, thereafter, will be distributed on a bi-weekly schedule, as determined by the District’s annual payroll schedule. A Teacher may elect, once per year by August 1 or at hire date (if new hire) any one of the following options for receipt of his/her professional salary. If a Teacher does not make this election on a timely basis, the Teacher will receive Option 1, below. 1. Salary divided into twenty-six (26) pays, to be paid every two (2) weeks; or 2. Salary divided into twenty-one (21) pays, paid every two (2) weeks. In certain years, the calendar will necessitate twenty-seven (27) pay periods. This schedule will be provided to the Association leadership by the last day of the preceding school year. Payment will be by direct deposit only. Upon appropriate written authorization from the bargaining unit member, the Employer shall deduct from the wages of any such member and make appropriate remittance for annuities, insurance options, financial institutions, charitable donations, or any other plans or programs jointly approved by the Association and the Board. Any teacher may sign who notifies the Superintendent in writing by March 1 of the intent to resign his/her position at the end of that school year shall receive seven hundred dollars ($700) as an early resignation notification incentive. A. A teacher who has twenty (20) or more consecutive years of service to the district, who retires under the Michigan Public School Employees’ Retirement System, and provides written notice on or before March 1 of their intent to retire will be paid $50 per unused sick leave day, up to a maximum of $5,000, payable in a 403 (b) plan. A teacher who has twenty (20) or more consecutive years of service to the district, who retires under the Michigan Public School Employees’ Retirement System, and provides written notice of their intent to retire after March 1 will be paid $35 per day, per unused sick day, up to a maximum of $3,500, payable in a 403 (b) plan. 1. Upon written confirmation of retirement, a teacher who is otherwise eligible and meets the language in A above and who experiences a verified medical issue that results in the depletion of their 100 accumulated sick days to a number not lower than 75, within the year of retirement or one year prior, will be compensated for the full (100) days. 2. An teacher who is otherwise eligible, as outlined in the language in A above, to receive either compensation for unused sick days becomes deceased, their spouse shall receive $50 per day if on or before March 1 or $35 if after March 1, per unused sick day, payable in cash or check from the District. The district will collect a W-9 form and issue payment directly to the spouse of the deceased employee who will receive a 1099 at the end of the calendar year to report the income. Such a direct payment creates a tax liability, and as such, the District will increase the payment in the amount specified in ¶ B.3, or of the compensatory time for substitute teaching. Such selection may be amended, in writing, at any time during tax liability to relieve the school yearrecipient of said tax burden.

PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries of certified teachers covered by this Agreement are as set forth in Schedule A which is attached to and subject incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary schedule shall remain in effect for the term indicated on such Schedule A. Non-certified teachers will be paid at eighty-five (85) percent of the BA base salary. B. The salary schedule is based upon the regular school calendar as set forth in Schedule B and the Appendix which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement, and on the normal teaching assignment as defined in this Agreement. For teaching assignments in excess of the regular school calendar, teachers will be compensated at their regular daily rate of pay as defined in this Agreement, except for days rescheduled to meet the minimum number of days/hours in session required by state law, if any, as outlined elsewhere in this Agreement. For teaching assignments in excess of the normal teaching load, teachers will be compensated at the rate of one-fifth (1/5th) their salary as determined by Schedule A for each additional class taught. In the event such excess teaching assignment is for less than the normal school year under Schedule B, the compensation for such excess assignment shall be prorated. It is mutually agreed and understood that the acceptance of an additional teaching assignment by a full-time teacher within this section will not accrue additional contractual preparation compensation. C. Any teacher providing classroom instruction outside the regular school day, as defined in this Agreement, shall be compensated at the rate of 0.0008 x BA 0. This additional rate shall also be paid to any teacher who substitutes during his preparation period, or who assumes the responsibility for an additional class or individual during one of his assigned class periods. D. Teachers involved in voluntary extra-curricular duty assignments as set forth in Schedule C of this Agreement shall be compensated in accordance with the provisions of that Schedule A, which is attached to, to and incorporated in, in this Agreement. 1E. The Board agrees to continue its practice of providing car allowances for those teachers who, in the daily discharge of their teaching duties are required to drive personal automobiles from one school building to another, shall receive a car allowance at the current IRS rate. The Board also agrees to continue its practice of providing transportation or an acceptable substitute therefore to those teachers whose satisfactory performance of their duties, curricular or extra-curricular, require travel outside the district. F. The salary of an employee shall begin at the time he reports for duty or date of contract. The salary Schedule A. I. is for a normal teaching load as defined in Article VI. For extra duty which has received prior administrative approval, the teacher shall be entitled paid bi-weekly on such calendar dates as are established by the Board. The Board will spread contractual salaries in such a manner that full payment of earned salary will be completed by June 30, or by August 31 at the option of the individual teacher. The period of salary payment spread shall be elected by each teacher prior to appropriate professional compensation: the close of the first pay period of the school year. G. In recognition of service to the school district, a terminal leave payment for unused sick days shall be paid to the teacher, having at least ten (10) years service within the district. Payments shall be made as a non-elective employer contribution and be paid directly by the District into the eligible MEA Financial Service Employees’ 403b Annuity contracts in compensatory time; through the first regular pay date of the subsequent July or subsequent January. If the date of payment is not specified by the teacher, payment will be made the first subsequent date from among the two alternative dates outlined above. Such payment shall be computed by multiplying one-fourth (1/4) the number of unused sick days by the teacher's daily rate of pay. H. In the case of a teacher's hourly rate as defined in ¶ B.3; or in accordance with Sections E or F (teacher having ten (10) years service within the district) death, one-fourth (1/4) of this Article; or as listed in Schedule A. II, as may be applicable. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries of teachers covered by this the Agreement are set forth in Schedule A and subject to the provisions of Schedule A, which is attached to, to and incorporated in, in this Agreement. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries of certified teachers covered by this Agreement are as set forth in Schedule A which is attached to and subject incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary schedule shall remain in effect for the term indicated on such Schedule A. Non-certified teachers will be paid at eighty-five (85) percent of the BA base salary. B. The salary schedule is based upon the regular school calendar as set forth in Schedule B and the Appendix which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement, and on the normal teaching assignment as defined in this Agreement. For teaching assignments in excess of the regular school calendar, teachers will be compensated at their regular daily rate of pay as defined in this Agreement, except for days rescheduled to meet the minimum number of days/hours in session required by state law, if any, as outlined elsewhere in this Agreement. For teaching assignments in excess of the normal teaching load, teachers will be compensated at the rate of one-fifth (1/5th) their salary as determined by Schedule A for each additional class taught. In the event such excess teaching assignment is for less than the normal school year under Schedule B, the compensation for such excess assignment shall be prorated. It is mutually agreed and understood that the acceptance of an additional teaching assignment by a full-time teacher within this section will not accrue additional contractual preparation compensation. C. Any teacher providing classroom instruction outside the regular school day, as defined in this Agreement, shall be compensated at the rate of 0.0008 x BA 0. This additional rate shall also be paid to any teacher who substitutes during his preparation period, or who assumes the responsibility for an additional class or individual during one of his assigned class periods. D. Teachers involved in voluntary extra-curricular duty assignments as set forth in Schedule C of this Agreement shall be compensated in accordance with the provisions of that Schedule A, which is attached to, to and incorporated in, in this Agreement. 1E. The Board agrees to continue its practice of providing car allowances for those teachers who, in the daily discharge of their teaching duties are required to drive personal automobiles from one school building to another, shall receive a car allowance at the current IRS rate. The Board also agrees to continue its practice of providing transportation or an acceptable substitute therefore to those teachers whose satisfactory performance of their duties, curricular or extra- curricular, require travel outside the district. F. The salary of an employee shall begin at the time he reports for duty or date of contract. The salary Schedule A. shall be paid bi-weekly on such calendar dates as are established by the Board. The Board will spread contractual salaries in such a manner that full payment of earned salary will be completed by June 30, or by August 31 at the option of the individual teacher. The period of salary payment spread shall be elected by each teacher prior to the close of the first pay period of the school year. G. In recognition of service to the school district, a terminal leave payment for unused sick days shall be paid to the teacher, having at least ten (10) years service within the district. Payments shall be made as a non-elective employer contribution and be paid directly by the District into the eligible MEA Financial Service Employees’ 403b Annuity contracts in the first regular pay date of the subsequent July or subsequent January. If the date of payment is not specified by the teacher, payment will be made the first subsequent date from among the two alternative dates outlined above. Such payment shall be computed by multiplying one-fourth (1/4) the number of unused sick days by the teacher's daily rate of pay. H. In the case of a teacher's (teacher having ten (10) years service within the district) death, one-fourth (1/4) of the teacher's unused sick leave will be paid in a lump sum to the survivor named by that teacher. Such payment shall be computed by multiplying the applicable number of unused sick days by the teacher's daily rate of pay at the time of death. I. A teacher's daily rate of pay shall be computed by dividing the total of the teacher's base salary for the contractual year in which the computation is made by 182 days. For the purposes of Sections G and H above, such computation shall be made on the basis of the school calendar year in which separation or death occurs or for the immediately preceding school calendar year if death or separation occurs during the summer months. J. Extra-curricular duty pay will be paid in full at the conclusion of each assignment. In the case of a teacher's death or separation, the Board and the Association agree to meet to determine the amount of extra duty work completed by said teacher, and payment will be made on their findings. K. Members hired after September 1, 1990 will be provided a matched savings program up to $500 per year for the duration of this contract. The Board and Association recognize the importance of each teacher pursuing an active savings program to provide for a normal teaching load as defined in Article VIsafe retirement plan. For extra duty The Board will provide a contributory annuity per the terms and conditions of this contract. To accomplish this goal all bargaining unit members will hereafter be provided with a contributory annuity or other existing annuity to which has received prior administrative approval, a teacher presently contributes. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. Section 1: The salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Schedule A and subject to the provisions of Schedule Appendix "A, ," which is attached to, to and incorporated in, in this Agreement. 1. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A.
