Furthermore, the Board also reserves the right to hire all Teachers at Step 1, should the Board deem that the financial condition of the district necessitates this. 3. Teachers who have either volunteered or who are assigned to substitute during another teacher’s absence shall receive $30.00 per class period as assigned. 2. The administration will continue to put forth efforts to have substitutes so that undue disruption of a regular teacher’s day for substituting is minimized. Such efforts may be grieved through level three (3) of the grievance procedure. G. Direct deposit shall be available to employees, upon written request, for deposit to employee accounts in financial institutions that have cooperative agreements with the Board. Teachers utilizing payroll deductions and later electing to cancel their participa- tion shall be prohibited from reapplying for payroll deductions until the commencement of the following school year year. Employees’ payroll deduction for purchase of MPSERS retirement credit pursuant to applicable laws and regulations will be eligible for credit for a year’s servicecontinued as needed. 16.7 Longevity status will ▇. If a member completes the approved necessary credits for advancement to a higher educational level on the compensation schedule, an adjustment for additional years in placement on the schedule will be made. This adjustment will be effective in the appropriate school year only if the member notifies the Superintendent/designee in writing prior to October of service said year with proper verification of having successfully completed the approved course work. 7. A member shall be automatically credited at advanced one-step on the beginning of salary schedule based upon satisfactory performance for each school year. 16.6 Full time teachers serving 8. For the purposes of salary schedule advancement, one (I) year of experience shall be defined as 110 or more than working days of satisfactory teaching employment, one-half (I /2) day or more, of the same school year in the District. 9. During each school year of the term of this contract, each member who has been teaching in Klamath Falls City Schools for a period of seven (7) years or more and who does not advance on any salary column from his/her position during the previous year and does not advance to another salary column, either because of additional education or because of additional experience, will be paid 3% of that year's base salary in a lump sum, separate check payment no later than June 1st of the contract year; provided, however, that a member who notifies the District at the beginning of a school year will be eligible for credit for a year’s serviceof his/her intent to retire during or at the end of that year shall have the option to receive one-ninth (1/9) of 3% of the base salary during each month of his/her employment. 16.7 Longevity status 10. Speech language pathologists will be entered at the completion of step 15. After 15 (fifteen) years of continuous service to the Dunbarton School District, payments receive an annual of $750 per year will be given for years 16 through 18; $1,150 per year for years 19 through 24; and $1,650 for years 25 and above5,000. Non-cumulative. 16.7.1 Effective July Beginning September 1, 2013 teachers who are on step 15 for a second year and who have a minimum 2019, the position of 5 years of continuous service at Dunbarton Elementary School will receive a $750.00 stipend annually, non-cumulative. After 15 years of continuous service and thereafter, teachers Nurse will receive the longevity payment annual stipend of $5,000. Beginning February 25, 2020, the position of School Psychologist will receive an annual stipend of $7,500. Beginning March 1, 2020, the position of Behavioral Specialist will receive an annual stipend of $5,000. Annual stipends are based upon 1.0FTE. 11. The District will provide a $5,000 signing incentive for difficult to fill positions. These positions will be identified on an annual basis by the Contract Maintenance Committee by February 1st of each year. The bonus will not be extended to current District teachers or former District teachers (including retirees). The signing incentive will require a teaching commitment of three (3) years with KFCS. The signing bonus will be paid in lieu three (3) payments: Year one (1): $2,500; year two (2) $1,500; and year three (3) $1,000. Year one (1) of the stipendsigning incentive, the full $2,500 will be paid to the successful candidate at the end of August. For the subsequent years, the candidate will be paid in the September payroll. 16.8 A teacher 12. Employees who has completed twenty have multiple endorsements and are using these multiple endorsements in their assigned teaching assignment will receive an annual stipend equal to 2.5% of the base (20BA Step 0). 13. Professional Compensation Elementary teachers (not including special education teachers, or specialists such as music teachers) who teach split classes seventy-five percent (75%) or more years of service at Dunbarton Elementary School, who intends to retire and gives written notice to the Superintendent and Board on or before November 1 of the calendar year prior day in their teaching assignment, will receive an annual stipend equal to 2.5% of base salary schedule (BA+0 Step 0). Half-time teachers will earn half of the year in which retirement stipend (1.25% of the base salary schedule) if seventy-five percent (75%) of their classes are split. 14. The District shall sponsor and pay for maintaining the professional licensure for Speech Language Pathologists (SPLs). In addition, the District will take placepay for all SLPs to attend OSHA. Salaries shown in Appendix A which is attached to are based upon a normal teaching load as defined in Articles 6 and incorporated 7 for the entire school year as shown in this Agreement. Economic benefits Appendix D. For the purpose of calculating salaries for part-time employees teachers teaching less than a full school year, payment per day shall be calculated on a pro rata basis. In defined as the event of an extended school year due to weatherteacher's base annual salary, part-time employees who are asked excluding any extra duty compensation, divided by the administration to extend their individual contracted number of work days agreement to offer scheduled classes to students in the contract calendar for that school year. Work performed for the district outside the calendar year(s) as shown in Appendix D may not be paid at the teacher's daily rate, but shall be paid at their per diem rate. 16.2 Employees shall be given full credit toward initial placement on a rate agreed upon by the salary schedule set forth Board and the Association. Any teacher receiving an end of year rating of “minimally effective” for two consecutive years will not advance on the salary schedule for the following school year; and 3. The teacher(s) who does not advance due to this rating may advance the following school year once an “effective” or “highly effective” rating has been earned. G. Teachers shall have the option to receive their pay in one of the following ways. Any change to the original election of their choice shall be made no later than September 1st of each year. 1. Twenty-six (26) equal payments on every other Friday; 2. Twenty-six (26) equal payments on every other Friday with the contract balance paid out the last payroll in accordance June. Teachers who resign from the District before the end of the school year and do not complete their contractual obligations, or otherwise have their employment terminated, and have completed proper checkout procedures with their supervisor, shall receive a lump sum payment of the balance of their contractual salary earned within 10 days of the date of termination. At that same time, all benefits shall cease. Teachers who resign from the District before the end of the school year and DO complete their contractual obligations shall receive the balance of their contractual salary due within 10 days of the date of termination, but their benefits will remain in effect until August 31st or until they receive health insurance through a future employer, whichever occurs first. Any changes will include the following standard procedures in building schedules: A. A compilation of “Best Practice” research. B. A representative committee of teachers and respective building principal to study the proposed change. C. Consensus of affected building teachers. D. An annual evaluation procedure by the committee specified in “B” above. 4.4 The Board agrees that the chief negotiator(s) for the Association engaged during the school day in negotiations on behalf of the Association with the Board and/or its designated representative during the term of this Agreement and set forth in the annual individual teacher contract (See Appendix B)shall be entitled to released time, as needed, without loss of salary. 16.5 Salary adjustment for additional years of service 4.5 Experience outside the school system shall be automatically credited evaluated by the Board and credit for up to one (1) year less than the BA or MA Maximum may be allowed. After 15 (fifteen) years of continuous service to the Dunbarton School District, payments of $750 per year will be given for years 16 through 18; $1,150 per year for years 19 through 24; and $1,650 for years 25 and above. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. 16.1 4.1 The base salaries of employees teachers covered by this Agreement agreement are for 184 days of work and are set forth in Appendix A which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. Economic benefits for part-time employees shall be calculated on a pro rata basis. In the event of an extended school year due to weather, part-time employees who are asked by the administration to extend their individual contracted days agreement to offer scheduled classes to students shall be paid at their per diem rate. 16.2 Employees shall be given full credit toward initial placement on the salary schedule set forth in Appendix A for years accredited of K-12 teaching experience at a state certified school while holding a valid teaching certificate. 16.3 Advancement on the Such salary schedule shall be remain in accordance with earned annual experience, earned academic achievement and a recommendation made by the principal and approved by the Superintendent based upon the evaluation processeffect as designated each year. If the evaluation falls into the classification of not competent or needs improvement, the step increase Teachers will not be grantedrequired to report to work on Act of God days and will experience no loss of pay. 16.4 4.2 The salary schedule is based upon a normal teaching load, as hereinafter defined for not to exceed the regular school number of days specified in the calendar during normal teaching hours. For each additional class the teacher shall be entitled to appropriate additional salary. This salary shall be determined by dividing his/her base salary, as set forth in Article VII Appendix A, by the number of class periods scheduled daily. The number of daily class periods currently scheduled at grades 6-8 is seven and 9-12 is five. 4.3 Teachers may, as a representative group and through the normal teaching assignment as defined assistance of their building principals, initiate changes in building scheduling which would positively impact the student population. Any changes will include the following standard procedures in building schedules: A. A compilation of “Best Practice” research. B. A representative committee of teachers and respective building principal to study the proposed change. C. Consensus of affected building teachers. D. An annual evaluation procedure by the committee specified in “B” above. 4.4 The Board agrees that the chief negotiator(s) for the Association engaged during the school day in negotiations on behalf of the Association with the Board and/or its designated representative during the term of this Agreement and set forth in the annual individual teacher contract (See Appendix B)shall be entitled to released time, as needed, without loss of salary. 16.5 Salary adjustment for additional years of service 4.5 Experience outside the school system shall be automatically credited evaluated by the Board and credit for up to one (1) year less than the BA or MA Maximum may be allowed. Such election must be made prior to the issuance of individual contracts or no later than the first week of school. 4.9 Upon advance approval of the Superintendent and Principal, the Board shall reimburse teacher tuition for any course work completed after a Master's Degree. This course work shall be limited to six (6) semester hours per fiscal year and would include classes offered at the graduate and undergraduate level. The Board shall pay the fee for certificate renewal. A copy of the application/reimbursement form shall be attached as an addendum to this Agreement. In addition, the Board will pay a stipend of service at Dunbarton Elementary School, who intends to retire and gives written notice to $300.00 per semester hour taken during the Superintendent and Board on or before November 1 of the calendar year prior to the year in which retirement will take place, and who gives such notice prior to reaching age sixty-twosummer non- school days.
