Professional Year Clause Samples

The 'Professional Year' clause defines the period during which a professional, such as an employee or contractor, is considered to have completed a full year of service for the purposes of the agreement. This clause typically specifies the start and end dates of the professional year, and may outline how partial years are treated, such as prorating benefits or entitlements. Its core function is to establish a clear timeframe for calculating annual benefits, obligations, or milestones, thereby ensuring consistency and fairness in the administration of the contract.
Professional Year. The number of contract days annually for which a teacher is paid and their placement on the school calendar.

Professional Year. Section A: Professional Year for Teachers Paragraph 1: Contract Days (a) The base contract days for teachers for each contract year, exclusive of those in supplemental or contract addendums, shall be 190 days, consisting of teaching and non-teaching professional days as determined by the Board. The base contract for High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp (JROTC) instructors shall be for twelve (12) months a year. High School JROTC instructors shall observe as nonworking days the days on the calendar as set forth in Appendix A that are identified as holidays and recess days. Additional nonworking days, to a maximum of 20 days, shall be arranged with and approved by the base principal and shall normally be scheduled outside the school year. High School JROTC instructors shall be entitled to such additional nonworking days commencing August 1 the second year of their employment. If a High School JROTC instructor starts work after August 1 of a year, then commencing the upcoming August 1, the instructor shall be entitled to a prorated number of nonworking days based on the time period worked. Those nonworking days not used by August 1 of each year shall be lost as of each August 1. The Superintendent and the UTW President will review all requests submitted to extend the school year prior to April 1 of each year. Their joint recommendation shall be subject to Board approval. All requests must be first supported by 80 percent of the affected staff as determined by a secret ballot election conducted by the UTW. Staff who do not support the extended year concept shall have the right to transfer. Such contract days shall be scheduled on weekdays, Monday through Friday, between the first and last workday of each contract year. In the event that schools are closed for one or two days due to inclement weather, the number of base contract days shall be reduced by such one or two days. Paragraph 2: New Teacher Orientation
Professional Year. The professional school year shall be 184.5 days. High School • 1,202.5 hours of instruction (179.5 x 402 minutes -c- 60) • 99 hours (179.5 x 33 minutes -c- 60) for the purpose defined in definition #15 (first paragraph) of this agreement Middle/Elementary Levels • 1,196.5 hours of instruction (179.5 x 400 minutes 7 60) • 105 hours (179.5 x 35 minutes 7 60) for the purpose defined in definition #15 (first paragraph) of this agreement District-wide • 3.5 hours (.5 day) of school administrative meeting time prior to the beginning of the student year • 10.5 hours of teacher work time (1.5 days x 7 hours) which will occur prior to the beginning of the student year and 7 hours of in-service (1 day x 7 hours). • A .5 day will be provided at the end of the first and third quarter, with one hour for the purpose of district directed professional development and the remaining time for grade reporting purposes for grades 6-12. A full day at the end of first and third quarter will be provided for elementary staff; .5 for grade reporting purposes and .5 for the purpose of planning. • The designated work time for grade reporting purposes will occur prior to grade due dates in the l '1,2nd, and 3rd quarters. • A .5 day will be provided at the end of first semester and .5 day at the end of second semester. • Student contact time may be designated by district administration as inservice or work time. This time may be taken in .5 or whole day increments. • Professional educators are allowed to use one flex day prior to student report day in lieu of one designated teacher work day at the beginning of the school year and/or professional educators may use one flex day after the end of the student year in lieu of the work day at the end of the school year provided grade reporting obligations are complete, it happens within the building administrator's contract year and is mutually agreed upon between the teacher and the administrator. • If the calendar committee proposes a district calendar that does not meet the above guidelines, it would be subject to a deviation of contract vote, see Article VIII Section I.

  • Professional Dues The school district will pay the annual dues for the Superintendent’s membership in the following organizations: Nebraska Council of School Administrators (NCSA), The School Superintendents Association (AASA), and any other membership dues requested by the Superintendent and approved by the Board.

  • Professional Day The period set forth in the Professional Day Article.

  • Professional Days The President of the College or the President’s designee may assign any faculty member up to seven (7) days during the academic year for scheduled orientation and registration programs, commencement and convocation activities and such other College sponsored activities the Present deems appropriate. Professional days shall be assigned no earlier than three (3) days prior to the first (1st) day of classes in the fall semester and no earlier than four (4) days prior to the first (1st) day of classes in the spring semester. Such duties and responsibilities may be assigned to individual faculty members in blocks in one-half (1/2) day or more; and provided further that a faculty member shall not be required to discharge these responsibilities over more than fourteen (14) days during the academic year.

  • Professional Service Consultant agrees that all services and work performed under this agreement will be accomplished in a professional manner, in accordance with the accepted standards of Contractor’s profession.
