Prohibition on Use of Monofilament Netting Clause Samples
The Prohibition on Use of Monofilament Netting clause explicitly bans the use of fishing nets made from single-strand plastic filament within the regulated area or activity. In practice, this means that fishers or contractors must utilize alternative netting materials, such as multifilament or natural fiber nets, and may be subject to inspections or penalties if found in violation. The core purpose of this clause is to protect marine environments and wildlife, as monofilament nets are known to cause significant ecological harm due to their durability and tendency to entangle non-target species.
Prohibition on Use of Monofilament Netting. To minimize the risk of ensnaring and strangling wildlife, Permittee shall not use any erosion control materials that contain synthetic (e.g., plastic or nylon) monofilament netting, including photo- or biodegradable plastic netting. Geotextiles, fiber rolls, and other erosion control measures shall be made of loose-weave mesh, such as jute, hemp, coconut (coir) fiber, or other products without welded weaves.
