Common use of RATE OF PAY ON TEMPORARY PROMOTION Clause in Contracts

RATE OF PAY ON TEMPORARY PROMOTION. An employee assigned to a higher paid classification to fill a vacancy caused by sick leave or other approved leave of absence, or any other reasons stipulated by this Agreement, and who serves in any higher paid classification for forty (40) consecutive work hours, shall thereafter be paid at a rate of five percent (5%) above the rate of pay he was receiving immediately prior to the temporary promotion or the entry rate of pay for the higher position, whichever is greater. In no case shall such adjustment place the employee beyond the range of the position to which he has been temporarily promoted. The forty (40) work-hour waiting period shall apply each time an employee is assigned to a higher classification, unless an employee has established a consecutive forty (40) work-hour waiting period in the last sixty
