Reasonable Overtime & Distant Work. The employer may require an employee to work reasonable overtime and/or distant work and be paid at the appropriate penalty rates and/or allowances/s. An employee may refuse to work overtime or distant work in circumstances where such work would result in the employee working hours which are unreasonable having regard to the following criteria: ▪ any risk to employee health and safety. ▪ the employee’s personal circumstances including any family responsibilities. ▪ the needs of the workplace or enterprise. ▪ the notice (if any) given by the employer of the overtime and by the employee of his or her intention to refuse it. ▪ any other relevant matters.

  • Reasonable Overtime (a) There is a requirement to work reasonable overtime. Subject to that requirement being met, it is not compulsory for an Employee to work overtime in a particular case. (b) On jobs where overtime is necessary, the work crew may be rostered so that each Employee is not disadvantaged as to the amount of overtime worked (subject to the Employer being able to maintain appropriate levels of coverage as required to meet operational needs). On any day that overtime is worked there will be no necessity for all Employees on that particular job to work. (c) Excessive overtime shall not be worked. It is agreed that every effort shall be made to eliminate excessive overtime and create as many employment opportunities as possible. Any suggested and agreed measures to address this shall be discussed by the persons covered by this Agreement and reviewed regularly on all projects throughout the life of this Agreement.

  • Distant work Employees who are in receipt of Living Away from Home Allowance will be eligible for the allowances provided for in this clause, subject to Appendix H– Living Away from Home Allowance.

  • Requirement to Work Reasonable Overtime The Employer may require any Employee to work reasonable overtime at overtime rates and such an Employee shall work overtime in accordance with the requirement.

  • Overtime Work A. Overtime pay is to be paid at the rate of one and one- half (1½) times the basic hourly straight-time rate. B. Overtime shall be paid to employees for work performed only after eight (8) hours on duty in any one (1) service day or forty (40) hours in any one (1) service week. Nothing in this Section shall be construed by the parties or any reviewing authority to deny the payment of overtime to employees for time worked outside of their regularly scheduled work week at the request of the Employer.   • Payment for Working Overtime (a) For all work done outside ordinary hours, the rates of pay will be time and a half for the first two hours and double time thereafter. (b) Except as provided in clause 8.4, in computing overtime each day’s work will stand alone. (c) To avoid doubt, overtime provisions for shift workers are contained in clause 10.7.
