Remediation of Deficiencies. 8.13.1 Specifying Deficiencies/Growth Plan Prior to recommending probation, the evaluator of a classroom teacher shall take the following steps to assist the employee in improving his or her performance: 1. The evaluator shall meet with the employee and communicate verbally and in writing a growth plan. 2. The growth plan will: o identify specific areas of deficiency(ies) within the evaluative criteria and the adopted framework; o recommended actions for the employee to take to remediate such deficiency(ies); and o means by which the evaluator can provide assistance. The employee shall have at least thirty (30) working days to remediate the area(s) of deficiency(ies) prior to any recommendation for probation. At the teacher’s request, an Association representative may be present as a witness during any meeting related to the growth plan, provided that no delay beyond forty eight (48) hours or interference is caused with regard to the scheduling or conduct of the meetings.
