Common use of Reporting to Work – Minimum Pay Clause in Contracts

Reporting to Work – Minimum Pay. (a) Subject to the provisions of Paragraph (c) or (d) below, an employee reporting for their scheduled shift on the call of the Board and who does not commence work shall receive their regular rate of pay for the entire period spent at their place of work, with a minimum of two (2) hours’ pay at their regular rate. (b) Subject to the provisions of Paragraph (c), an employee who commences work on a regular shift, shall receive their regular rate of pay for the entire period spent at their place of work, with a minimum of four (4) hours’ pay at their regular pay. (c) In any case where an employee: i) reports for their regular shift but refuses, except for just cause, to commence work, or ii) commences work but refuses, except for just cause, to continue working, the employee shall not be entitled to receive the minimum payment set forth in paragraphs (a) and (b) above.
