RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES. The Government and Multilateral Organizations Lead will report to the FAST Project Director and will be expected to: • Lead the FAST programme of work related to governments and multilateral institutions, building on existing initiatives and ensuring future activities align with donor priorities; • Collaborate with other members of the FAST project team, including the workstream leads for the Financial Sector and Vulnerable Populations, to create opportunities to work with and through government and multilateral institutions to advance FAST project objectives; • Initiate peer-to-peer learning activities for government and multilateral officials to embed anti- slavery and anti-human trafficking in sustainable finance approaches and improve cooperation with the financial sector including public lenders, investors, regulatory bodies (inc. exchanges), and development actors; • Design and deliver trainings for government and multilateral officials, financial regulators, development actors, and public lenders/investors to address modern slavery and human trafficking risks, drawing on evidence and insights from partners and generated through research in the financial sector and vulnerable populations workstreams; • Develop and deliver authoritative evidenced-based policy reports, recommendations, editorials, and other publications that advance FAST objectives; • Make regular evidence-based submissions to public policy processes; • Promote policy uptake within the UN system; • Support the creation of an independent global ‘adverse actions’ database sharing information about divestments and procurement exclusions, building on adverse findings connected to modern slavery and human trafficking. • Participate in meetings and conferences that support FAST outreach, coalition-building and the dissemination of findings, including an annual implementation review conference. • Perform other duties as required by the FAST Project Director. • Advanced university degree in a relevant field, including but not limited to, business administration, finance, political science, international relations, human rights and public policy; • Minimum of five years (7 preferable) of relevant work experience, ideally including relevant leadership experience; • Demonstratable experience promoting policy initiatives with governments and multilateral institutions; • Expert knowledge of issues in the areas of sustainable finance, business and human rights, modern slavery, human trafficking, child labour and forced labour; • Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills; • Exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills demonstrated by the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity and gender parity; • Superior English-language oral and written communication skills; knowledge of another official UN language(s) is desirable; UNU is committed to diversity and inclusion within its workforce, and encourages all candidates, irrespective of gender, nationality, religious and ethnic backgrounds, including persons living with disabilities to apply and become part of the organization.
