Right to New Ideas Clause Samples

The "Right to New Ideas" clause establishes which party holds ownership or usage rights to any inventions, concepts, or improvements developed during the course of a contract or employment. Typically, this clause clarifies whether new ideas generated by an employee or contractor, even if created outside of direct assignments but related to the business, belong to the employer or client. By clearly allocating intellectual property rights, this clause prevents future disputes over ownership and ensures that valuable innovations are properly assigned and protected.
