Common use of Right to Select Carriers Clause in Contracts

Right to Select Carriers. (a) The benefits provided for herein shall be provided through a self-insured plan, a hospital plan, or under group insurance policy or policies issued by an insurance company or insurance companies selected by the City. "Insurance companies" include regular line insurance companies and non-profit organizations providing hospital, surgical or medical benefits. If these benefits are insured by an insurance company, all benefits are subject to the provisions of the policies between the Employer and the insurance companies. (b) The Employer shall notify and consult with the Union before renewal or changing insurance carriers or self-insuring. Notwithstanding any such changes, the level of benefits shall remain substantially the same.
