Salary Placement After Demotion or Transfer. A unit member who accepts a demotion in lieu of a layoff shall be placed at the salary range of the lower classification, and then to that step of the lower range that comes closest to the unit member’s hourly salary rate in the higher classification without exceeding the previous hourly salary rate.
