SAS CONTACT WHILE NOT OBLIGED TO BE CONTACTABLE Clause Samples

SAS CONTACT WHILE NOT OBLIGED TO BE CONTACTABLE. ‌ Where SAS makes (or attempts to make) contact with an employee while they are not obliged to be contactable for the purposes of establishing availability, it shall not be taken to be a period of work unless; 1) two-way contact to establish availability was successful, and 2) the pilot agrees to accept a possible call in, and 3) the call in is confirmed by SAS. Enquiry of employee availability alone only does not affect the duty type for the day, and it is up to the employee to decide whether or not to answer SAS contact while not obliged to be contactable. 18 SAS PILOT ROSTERING AGREEMENT (SASPRA)‌ This agreement sets out the ‘what’ part of rostering. The ‘how’ part of rostering is set out in a separate agreement (SASPRA) as it is not practical to renegotiate enterprise agreements for the sake of minor changes resulting from changes to CASA regulations or orders, the nature of SAS operations or to respond quickly to feedback from SAS or Employees. The SASPRA has deliberately been made as separate to this agreement due to the variable nature of the flight and duty limitations under the new CASA requirements and to allow SAS to respond to changing business requirements without having to revisit the overall terms and conditions of employment each time while still protecting the employees by still requiring acceptance of any such agreement as made or by reverting to basic requirements in the event agreement is unable to be reached or is cancelled.
