SCHOOL COMMITTEES. A. The involvement of professional staff members on various school committees is recognized by the Association and Board as important to the overall effectiveness of the educational programs for the children of the community. Further, the parties recognize that the involvement of members of the community, in conjunction with professional staff, is important and necessary. B. Professional staff member participation on the various school committees (building and/or District) shall be voluntary.
SCHOOL COMMITTEES. Teachers that serve on Participatory Decision Making 21 committees in individual schools will be selected by the teachers in that school by secret ballot 22 counted by the Association’s designated representative(s) and the Board representative(s). 24 (1) Discontinuation: Each participating school shall establish procedures whereby employees 25 within the school may choose not to continue in the program for an ensuing year. SCHOOL COMMITTEES. ‌ All new committees listed in this agreement shall meet at a time during the work day in which all staff who are on the committee are able to meet, unless, by majority vote, the committee decides to meet outside of school hours. Two committees will be established at Bricolage with the goal of school improvement through increased teacher voice. SCHOOL COMMITTEES. 1. No employee in their first year of employment with the School shall be required to serve on a School committee. 2. Up to five (5) bargaining unit members per school year are permitted to fulfill the post- first-year committee participation requirement by serving on the Union bargaining committee. Up to four (4) bargaining unit members per school year are permitted to fulfill the post-first-year committee participation requirement by serving in an ongoing union representative position. 3. Participation in a Union committee, any School-designated Ad Hoc Committee (exclusive of “hiring committees”) as well as being a Board of Trustees Faculty Representative shall fulfill the committee work requirement. Staff shall, upon request, be released from committee work for one (1) year after two (2) completed years serving as a committee chair. Part-time workers are welcome but not required to serve on a committee. Non-faculty employees shall not experience any loss of pay for participation in committees and are not required to work any overtime to engage in committee work. 4. Employees may but are not required to serve on more than one committee. 5. Chairing School-sanctioned Adult Affinity Groups and serving as a Board of Trustees Faculty Representative shall count as Committee Chair work for the purpose of allowing any such person to cycle out of committee work for one (1) year after serving two (2) years in either of these roles.
SCHOOL COMMITTEES. School Presidents are full members of their respective School Boards and the committees for learning and teaching and quality and academic standards. As each of the six DUSA Sabbatical Officers has responsibility for one or more School, they are full members of their designated School Board.
