School Events. 17.9.1 At school events where large numbers of non-students are expected and risk of confrontation exists, at the discretion of the District, security personnel may be hired for the purpose of assisting, supporting, and protecting on-duty unit members. Unit members are expected to observe, evaluate, and if appropriate, direct non-student behavior and summon security personnel for assistance if necessary. 17.9.2 Should the Association believe that the hiring of security personnel is necessary; the Association shall consult with the Superintendent regarding said hiring prior to the event. Should the Superintendent decide not to hire security personnel subsequent to the consultation, an administrator shall attend the event. 17.9.3 Unit members are not expected to become engaged in confrontations at school events which could lead to bodily injury.
