Common use of Selection of Fee Clause in Contracts

Selection of Fee. Any individual who begins employment with the Academy on or after 10/1/06, is covered by this Agreement and is not a member of MSEA-SEIU shall, as a condition of employment, within six (6) months after such conditions are met, be required to choose from the options of membership in MSEA-SEIU or payment to MSEA-SEIU of a service fee equal to their pro-rata share of the costs to MSEA-SEIU that are germane to collective bargaining and contract administration as defined by law. Unit members shall be required to (a) sign a written payroll deduction authorization form authorizing deduction from their pay of the membership dues or service fee, or (b) tender the full amount of the service fee to the union, or (c) indicate in writing their religious objection to the service fee and make contributions at least equal in amount to the service fee to a nonreligious charitable organization chosen by the unit member and agreed upon by the Union, within thirty (30) days after the first six (6) months of the beginning of their employment.
