Common use of Seniority Definitions Clause in Contracts

Seniority Definitions. For bargaining-unit members who transferred from the Michigan Department of Mental Health to Western Michigan University, for the purposes indicated below, the Union and the University agree to a fixed seniority date as indicated in Appendix E of this Agreement. For all employees covered by this Agreement hired after the ratification of this Agreement and after transfer of the power plant from the Michigan Department of Mental Health to Western Michigan University, for the purposes indicated below, an employee’s unit-wide seniority shall be defined as his/her last hiring date, or if initially hired as a temporary employee, since the last date upon which he/she was changed to regular employee status. “Last hiring date” shall mean the date the employee first reported to work as a regular employee.
