Shutdown. (a) Notice of an annual shutdown period between Christmas and New Year shall be given to employees not less than three (3) months before the commencement of the specified period or, in the case of an employee who commences employment less than three (3) months before the shutdown, on the day that employment commences. (b) Employees shall be provided with three (3) days paid leave for the purposes of the annual shutdown. This additional leave entitlement must be taken during the annual shutdown period unless the employee is required to work during this period and in such circumstances the employee shall take this leave prior to the end of January of the New Year unless otherwise agreed. (c) If a fourth working day falls during the Annual shutdown period between Christmas and New Year, employees will be required to take it as Annual leave, Accrued Day Off, or Time In Lieu. If an employee does not have sufficient paid leave to cover the shutdown period, they must use unpaid leave or any accrued time in lieu for this period. (d) Employees will be paid at the usual times and intervals of their current pay cycle.
