Common use of Shutdown Clause in Contracts

Shutdown. (a) A shutdown, (other than a vacation shutdown, physical inventory or layoff), of the plant or any department will only be incurred once in a calendar year during the duration of this Agreement. Additional shutdowns in the calendar year will not occur without the agreement of the Union. (b) Shipping and / or maintenance employees may be required to work through a shutdown. (c) If requested, the Company will provide a Record of Employment in the event a shutdown is not covered by vacation allocation.
