Common use of SICK LEAVE PROGRAM Clause in Contracts

SICK LEAVE PROGRAM. (a) Every regular employee who has completed one or more years of continuous employment with the Company shall be entitled, in each calendar year to payment at their regular rate of pay for up to forty- eight (48) hours of absence due to bona fide illness, In the event that an employee commences work but becomes ill during the course of the day and does not complete their scheduled shift, such part day of absence will, for the purpose of this clause 18.02, be counted as one-half (½) day of absence due to illness. Commencing in 2023 any employee who, at the conclusion of the contract year, who has all forty-eight (48) hours remaining will be paid for the forty- eight (48) remaining hours at one hundred and twenty-five (125%) percent of the regular rate of pay that was in effect for them on the first day of the contract year.
