Snow. The WMO GTS system delivers ground-based snow depth measurements from SYNOP stations (e.g. used by the ECMWF data assimilation system). The number of observations pr. grid square is shown below. The plot illustrates the very sparse coverage of snow measurements from Arctic SYNOP stations.
