Special Circumstances Pay. ‌ An employee in a regular position who is assigned to work in the community of ▇▇▇▇▇ shall receive a pay differential of five percent (5%) of the employee’s base hourly rate, up to the employee’s standard hours per pay period. Employees assigned to work in ▇▇▇▇▇ who are subsequently reassigned to a different work location shall no longer be eligible for the pay differential. The Fire Chief shall designate the communities eligible for Special Circumstances Pay. Employees eligible for the pay provided in this Article who are not in paid status (i.e., not coding paid hours) during a pay period shall not receive the Special Circumstances pay for that pay period. DIRECT DEPOSIT (ELECTRONIC FUND TRANSFERS)‌ All employees must make and maintain arrangements for the direct deposit of paychecks and reimbursements into the financial institution of their choice via electronic fund transfer. Employees who have not made such arrangement by the end of the 4th pay period after their date of hire shall be subject to disciplinary action. Employees who fail to make arrangements for direct deposit shall receive paychecks and/or reimbursements via pay card. In cases where an employee is unable to make such arrangements for electronic fund transfer, the Director of Human Resources may allow an exception to this article. Any exceptions granted may be reviewed periodically for continuation, subject to the approval of the Director ofs Human Resources. DISASTER SERVICE WORKERS‌ All employees covered by this Agreement are public employees, and, as such, are to serve as disaster service workers subject to such service activities as may be assigned to them by their superiors or by law, pursuant to Government Code Section 3100. DOWNGRADINGS‌ A downgrading is the reclassification of a position from one classification to another classification having a lower base salary range. When a position is downgraded, the incumbent employee may continue at the same salary rate payment where the salary rate is within the new base salary range. Where an incumbent receives a salary rate payment greater than the maximum of the new base salary range, the Director of Human Resources may authorize continuation of the same salary rate payment to the incumbent employee that the employee received prior to the downgrading of the position by placing the employee on an “X” step, provided that the employee shall receive no future salary rate increases until the salary range maximum of the new classification excee...
Special Circumstances Pay. Safety employees required to work extended hours under special circumstances may be paid his or her regular hourly rate for those extended hours worked. The amount of hours to be paid and the determination of special circumstances shall be at the discretion of the Fire Chief for fire employees and the Police Chief for police employees.

  • Special Circumstances An employee shall be entitled to extend the maternity leave by up to an additional six (6) consecutive weeks' leave without pay where a physician certifies the employee as unable to return to work for medical reasons related to the birth. An employee shall be entitled to extend the parental leave by up to an additional five (5) consecutive weeks' leave without pay where the child is at least six (6) months of age before coming into the employee's care and custody and the child is certified as suffering from a physical, psychological or emotional condition. Provided however, that in no case shall the combined maternity and parental leave exceed fifty-two (52) consecutive weeks following the commencement of the leave.
