Standard Shift Clause Samples

The Standard Shift clause defines the regular working hours or shifts that employees are expected to follow. It typically specifies the start and end times of a workday, the number of hours per shift, and may outline any variations for different roles or departments. By clearly establishing these parameters, the clause ensures both employer and employee have a mutual understanding of work schedules, reducing confusion and helping to manage expectations regarding attendance and overtime.
Standard Shift. A standard shift shall consist of eight hours to be completed within eight and one-half consecutive hours with not less than a thirty minute meal period on the nurse's own time.‌ Where mutually agreeable to the Hospital and individual nurse, a standard work shift may consist of ten hours work within ten and one half consecutive hours where the work pattern is based upon four ten-hour days equaling a standard work week, or twelve hours within twelve and one-half consecutive hours where the work pattern is based upon three twelve hour days in a standard work week. If the nurse agrees, he/she may be scheduled or called in to work less than eight hours.
