Standby Defined. Standby assignment shall mean a period during which the Employee is not on regular duty, and must be available to respond to return to duty. The duration of standby will not be less than eight (8) hours. No Employee will be required to be on standby in excess of one hundred and eighty-three (183) calendar days in one (1) calendar year against their wishes.

Employees on standby must refrain from consuming drugs and alcohol while on standby. The duration of standby will not be less than eight (8) hours. Permanent employees may refuse a standby assignment.
