Common use of Standby Defined Clause in Contracts

Standby Defined. When an employee is required by the Employer to be readily available within thirty (30) minutes of the normal work headquarters for service at other than normal working hours. Should an employee be unable to respond within the thirty (30) minute response time for any reason, they are required to contact another employee to ensure that the call is being addressed. Qualified employees are required to perform standby duty on a rotating basis in accordance with a list posted by the Employer. During standby duty the employee shall verbally respond to telephone calls; redirect action to an appropriate employee(s) without additional remuneration.
