Step Placement and Advancement Sample Clauses
The Step Placement and Advancement clause establishes the rules for determining an employee's initial salary step within a pay scale and the conditions under which they may progress to higher steps. Typically, this clause outlines the criteria for initial placement, such as prior experience or education, and details the process for advancement, which may be based on factors like years of service, performance evaluations, or completion of additional training. Its core practical function is to ensure a transparent and equitable system for salary progression, thereby promoting fairness and consistency in employee compensation.

Employees who work less than four (4) hours daily will receive one-half (1/2) step credit each year. When a nine (9) month full-time or part-time employee changes to a full-time position (either nine (9) or twelve (12) month), the total hours worked will be pro-rated to determine step placement for the new position. Any step advancement and salary increase may be withheld when a demonstrable deficiency in the performance of an individual employee can be shown.
