Steps of the Procedure. An EMPLOYEE shall discuss the grievance informally with the employee’s immediate supervisor, provided the grievance is not a discrimination or retaliation claim against that supervisor, and try to work out a satisfactory solution in an informal manner as soon as possible, but in no case later than seven (7) calendar days from the date of the occurrence of the act or the date the grievant might reasonably have been expected to have learned of the alleged violation being grieved. The grievant may have a LOCAL 200 representative present. 42. a. Step 1 (Immediate supervisor level). If the grievance is not resolved within seven (7) calendar days after informal discussion with the immediate supervisor, the grievant will submit the grievance in writing to the immediate supervisor no later than thirty (30) calendar days after the facts or event giving rise to the grievance. Claims alleging sexual harassment may be filed within four (4) months. The grievance will be submitted on a mutually agreeable grievance form. The grievance will set forth the following: 43. i. the specific reason or reasons for the grievance, including the date of the incident giving rise to the grievance, an explanation of the harm that occurred, and the name, classification, and department of the affected employee or employees; 44. ii. terms and conditions of this Agreement claimed to have been violated, misapplied or misinterpreted; and 45. iii. the remedy or solution being sought by the grievant.
