Substantial Completion Inspection Clause Samples

The Substantial Completion Inspection clause defines the process by which a project or a specific portion of work is formally reviewed to determine if it has reached a stage where it can be used for its intended purpose, even if minor items remain unfinished. Typically, this involves a joint inspection by the owner and contractor, during which a punch list of outstanding tasks is created. This clause ensures that both parties agree on when the project is functionally complete, allowing for occupancy or use, and helps clarify the transition of responsibilities such as maintenance and insurance.
