Summary Description. The Executive Director/Principal serves as the executive, educational and instructional leader of the schools; thereby, having the responsibility for overseeing the entire charter operation. Subject to the control of the Board, the Executive Director/Principal shall be the general manager of the corporation and shall supervise, direct, and control the school’s activities, affairs, and officers. The position is highly visible and is responsible for planning, organizing, controlling and directing all instructional activities, extracurricular events, special programs and facility operations at the school site. He or she provides instructional leadership to all school site staff including: curriculum planning, review and implementation; and professional development. He or she is responsible for day-to-day administration and the safety and welfare of students assigned to the site, staff and activities. He or she ensures a safe, pleasant and effective educational atmosphere, provides discipline as necessary and enforces school and district policy. The Executive Director/Principal shall have such other powers and duties as the Corporate Board of Directors or the bylaws may require.
