Taxpayer Identification Numbers and Backup Withholding. If your account is or becomes subject to backup withholding, we are required by law to withhold and pay to the Internal Revenue Service a required percentage of payments of interest and certain other payments under certain conditions. Your failure to furnish a correct taxpayer-identification number (TIN) or meet other applicable requirements may result in backup withholding as well as civil or criminal penalties. We may suspend the opening of your account until you provide an accurate TIN.
