Teaching and Research. 1. An individual who is or was a resident of a Contracting State at the beginning of his visit to the other Contracting State and who, at the invitation of the Government of that other Contracting State or of a university or other educational institution situated in that other Contracting State and approved by the appropriate educational authority of that other Contracting State visits that other Contracting State for a period not exceeding two (2) years for the purpose of teaching or researching at such university or other educational institution shall be exempt from tax by that other Contracting State on his income from personal services for teaching or researching at such university or other educational institution for a period not exceeding two (2) years from the date of his arrival in that other Contracting State. 2. The exemption granted under paragraph 1 shall not apply to income from research if such research is undertaken not in the public interest but primarily for the private benefit of a specific person or specific persons.

Teaching and Research. Consistent with the exercise of academic responsibility, employees shall have freedom to present and discuss their own academic subjects, frankly and forthrightly, without fear of censorship, and to select instructional materials and determine grades in accordance with University policies. Objective and skillful exposition of such subject matter, including the acknowledgment of a variety of scholarly opinions, is the duty of every such employee. Employees shall also be free to engage in scholarly and creative activity and publish the results in a manner consistent with their professional obligations.

Teaching and Research. Within NHS Tayside, there are active programmes of teaching, research and development with both academic and NHS staff collaborating in these fields. The provider will aim to continue this commitment to teaching and research in health-related areas in the future, although this remains outwith the funded value of this agreement. The Review Report also sets out that the service indicated the desire to more proactively communicate with the UK Psychiatric Community by placing low- cost advertisements in the British Journal of Psychiatry and assessing its impact.

Teaching and Research. Scholarship/Creative Work that is recognised as outstanding/above average for a minimum of three (3) years since attaining the rank of Associate Professor together with satisfactory Service.

An individual who is a resident of a Contracting State or was a resident of that State immediately before visiting the other Contracting State and who, at the invitation of the Government of that other State or of a university or other educational institution situated in that other State and approved by the appropriate educational authority of that State, visits that other State for the primary purpose of teaching or engaging in research, or both, at such university or other educational institution shall be exempt from tax by that other State on his income from personal services for teaching or research at such university or other educational institution for a period less than one year from the date of his arrival in that State. 2. The exemption granted under paragraph 1 shall not apply to income from research if such research is undertaken not in the public interest but primarily for the private benefit of a specific person or specific persons.

Teaching and Research. For greater certainty and without derogating from any other provision in this Agreement and subject to the confidentiality obligations under this Agreement, Sponsor grants to University the right to utilize all Sponsor Arising Intellectual Property and Joint Arising Intellectual Property for academic and research purposes without charge and in perpetuity.
