TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. 5.1 Lockable space for storing confidential materials will be provided in each school. A copy of the teacher's editions of the basic texts used in each subject area he/she teaches will be provided for the teacher's individual use during his/her tenure in that school. Teaching stations shall be provided for all teachers.
5.2 The teacher workday shall be seven (7) hours and thirty (30) minutes including a duty-free lunch period of not less than thirty (30) minutes. This time does not include the transfer of students. On non-student lunch days, all teachers shall be entitled to a one (1) hour duty-free lunch period. Teachers shall not be under obligation required to supervise a spectator bus to athletic eventseat in the lunchroom.
B. A. In elementary schools designated as L300 schools by FLDOE, an extra 15 minutes shall be added to the school day to provide the extra reading instruction required by law. Teachers working this extra time shall be paid at their hourly rate
5.3 Teachers will not be required allowed to drive busesuse tobacco in any form, electronic cigarettes, personal vaporizers, or any electronic nicotine delivery system on real or personal property owned or under the control of the Bay District School Board.
C. The 5.4 In the event of a heating or air conditioning malfunction, the facility manager shall report the condition to the proper Board department who shall make available in each school adequate restrooms and lavatory facilities for teacher use and at least one (1) room appropriately furnished, which shall be reserved, for every reasonable effort to correct the use as a faculty workroomcondition. Provision for such facilities Arrangements will be made in all future buildingsby the facility manager to relocate classes to areas that are properly heated /cooled and ventilated. If the entire school is affected by the above problems or a water disruption, the district office will address the issue as a priority.
D. Existing telephone facilities 5.5 If a teacher does not have access to his/her classroom during his/her planning then a long distance enabled phone and computer will be made available for his/her use in a confidential setting.
5.6 All elementary teachers, including special subject teachers, shall have at least fifteen (15) continuous minutes relief time during the instructional day. This period shall not include time spent in transferring children to other supervisors. Every effort shall be made available to teachers for use in conducting school businesssee that the relief time is not scheduled during the same part of the day as the planning period.
E. Parking facilities 5.7 It shall be provided for each the responsibility of the teacher to report, in writing, potentially unsafe or hazardous conditions to the immediate supervisor who will investigate the report with the teacher’s use. If an unsafe or hazardous condition exists, the immediate supervisor will take steps to correct the condition. The supervisor will respond in writing within seven (7) working days regarding disposition of the case. If no response is given within seven (7) working days, ABCE will contact the Deputy Superintendent.
F. Beginning teachers 5.8 Teacher participation in extra-curricular activities shall be given special consideration in regard to number of preparations and class size.
G. Work at athletic games outside of regular school hours shall be on a strictly voluntary basis.

J. Teachers will be provided supplies for their teaching assignments. Supplies and equipment will be ordered on a timely basis so as to be available when they are needed. If the supplies are not available exceed four (4) weeks prior such activities each year. If teachers are required to their needparticipate in the above activities, the teacher facility manager will advise schedule compensatory time in writing in advance. Such events requiring compensatory time shall be published on the principal who will advise central office. Central office will make reasonable efforts to obtain said materials from another vendor. Defective supplies will be returned to central office for appropriate credit and replacementschool calendar.
K. Subject 5.9 Teachers may be required to the provisions of Board policy, teachers may obtain a key to the outside entrance door of the school the teacher is assigned to for use during the school year.
L. Teachers in grades K-4 shall be provided two (2) half-day release times at remain after the end of the first regular work day for the purpose of attending faculty or other professional meetings in their regularly assigned school center for not more than nine (9) days per year. Such meetings shall not extend more than thirty (30) minutes beyond the close of the regular work day and second marking periods shall be announced twenty-four (24) hours prior, except in cases of emergency involving the health and safety of students or teachers or in case of accreditation studies. TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. Teachers The Board will provide support personnel, for the purpose of assisting teachers with completing necessary clerical tasks. There is no requirement on the number of personnel District wide or by building. Rather, a defined level of service shall not be under obligation to supervise a spectator bus to athletic eventsprovided.
B. Teachers who have larger than normal equipment or supply inventories will receive voluntary/paid assistance with inventorying supplies/equipment arranged by the building principal. Teachers will receive assistance for duplication of teaching materials with a 24-hour turn- around time and similar support responsibilities. Requests for assistance with technology problems will be responded to within 24 hours. If the problem prevents a teacher from being able to perform his/her normal teaching duties, it will be resolved within twenty-four hours (not counting weekends and holidays). To ensure that these tasks are performed, each Spring building technology representatives will meet with the labor management committee to clarify procedures and as necessary during the school year to maintain the quality of this assistance. The DEA building representatives will explain procedures to building staff within the first week of school. Problems which are not resolved in a mutually agreeable manner will be required brought to drive busesthe attention of the technology director’s supervisor. Each building shall contain at least one teachers' room which shall be used exclusively by teachers or support personnel. The Board shall be responsible for equipping and maintaining these rooms in a comparable manner.
C. The Board shall make available in each school adequate restrooms and lavatory facilities for teacher use and at least one (1) room appropriately furnished, which shall be reserved, for the use as a faculty workroom. Provision for such facilities Each classroom will be made equipped with a telephone programmed in such a way as to provide all future buildingsappropriate internal and external access. All facilities that accommodate after school activities shall have a telephone with a long-distance line for emergency calls.

The Board agrees to keep the schools reasonably equipped and maintained.

3. Community Education and Child Care programs that are community focused.
4. Programs external to the school community. Teachers who want to reserve the following facilities for September – August of the following school year must do so by June 15 of the preceding year. Requests after that date will be honored as received. Administration will properly enter these events into the District calendar. After May 15, additional requests will be honored in the order listed in Article V, Section L, 1-4 on an as- received basis.

It is also acknowledged that the primary duty and responsibility of the teacher is to teach and that the organization of the school and the school day should be directed at insuring that the energy of the teacher is primarily utilized to this end.
A. Teachers shall not be under obligation The Board recognizes that appropriate texts, library reference facilities, maps and globes, laboratory equipment, computers and appropriate software, audio visual equipment, art supplies, athletic equipment, music equipment and materials, current periodicals, standard texts and questionnaires and similar materials are the tools of the teaching profession. Administrators and teachers will confer from time to supervise a spectator bus time for the purpose of improving the selection and use of such educational tools. The Board will continue its efforts to athletic eventskeep the schools reasonably and properly equipped and maintained within available funds as determined by the Board of Education.
B. Teachers may drive a regularly scheduled bus run, but such bus runs will not be required to drive busesa part of their regularly assigned duties.
C. The Board shall make available in each school adequate restrooms school, a lounge and/or work study room for the teachers. When practical and possible, lavatory facilities for teacher use and at least one (1) room appropriately furnished, which shall be reserved, for the use as a faculty workroom. Every effort shall be made by the Board to minimize these tasks. TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. The Board and the Association recognize that the availability of adequate school facilities and equipment for both students and teachers is necessary to ensure a high quality of education. They also acknowledge that the primary duty of teachers is to teach and that the organization of the school and the school day shall be directed at ensuring that the energy of the teacher is utilized to this end.
B. The Board shall attempt to relieve teachers of clerical responsibilities, which have little relationship to classroom responsibilities and shall make available adequate typing, duplicating, stencil and mimeograph facilities and make a reasonable effort to provide clerical personnel to aid teachers in the preparation of instructional materials.
C. Where special education classroom teachers are provided with a paraprofessional, they shall be given an opportunity to participate in the interviewing process.
D. Teachers shall not be under obligation required to supervise a spectator bus collect and transmit money to athletic events.

The teacher shall exercise professional judgment and care in the use of materials provided under this section. TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. The Board agrees to provide significant instruction in the areas of physical education, art, music, reading and library skills in each elementary school in the district. The teachers in these skill areas are to be under obligation considered regularly assigned teachers. Further, these teachers are to supervise be considered an integral part of the educational program. The time spent by a spectator bus class of students receiving instruction from a specialist in the above areas may be used by elementary teachers for preparation, planning and conferences. Attempts will be made to athletic eventsschedule the time of special teachers with equity within each given building.

Teachers The Board recognizes that appropriate texts, library reference facilities, maps and globes, laboratory equipment, audio-visual equipment, art supplies, athletic equipment, current periodicals, standard tests and questionnaires, chalkboards, blackout curtains, and similar materials are tools of the teacher profession. The Board agrees that the professional staff will not be required involved in selecting and recommending appropriate technological instructional tools and that every reasonable effort will be made to drive busesimplement the recommendations as presented through the various departments and committees.

The Board shall make available in each school adequate restrooms building a restroom, lavatory facility and lavatory facilities for teacher use and at least one (1) room appropriately furnished, which shall be reserved, reserved for the use as a faculty workroomlounge and lunchroom. 1. The phone call is credited to the Teacher’s personal credit card number.
2. The telephone call is credited to the Teacher’s home phone number.
3. The charge for the telephone call is transferred to the person who is being called (collect call).
4. The phone call is for student/parent contact.
E. Parking Adequate parking facilities shall be provided made available to teachers for each teacher’s usetheir use with teachers required to use designated areas.

Beginning Notwithstanding their employment, teachers shall be given special consideration in regard entitled to number full rights of preparations citizenship and class sizeno religious or political activities of any teacher or the lack thereof shall be grounds for any discipline or discrimination with respect to the professional employment of such teacher. TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. The District recognizes the necessity of keeping schools reasonably and properly equipped and maintained within the established budget. The District further recognizes its responsibility to maintain schools in a safe and sanitary condition and will consult with other responsible officials when necessary to achieve this end. The use of a teacher aide or student assistant does not satisfy the supervision requirement except during an emergency or a scheduled supervisory period assigned by the principal.
H. All classroom teachers will provide a hard copy which contains general plans for one
(1) week in advance. Duplicate copies of these plans must be given to the principal by non-tenured teachers.
I. Lesson plans shall enable the substitute to conduct the class in a manner that will provide lesson continuity. Plans must be available for a substitute prior to teacher reporting time on any given day.

TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. When it is necessary to assign teachers to non-instructional supervisory duties, such assignments will be made after input from the teachers involved.
1. Teachers shall not be under obligation required to supervise a spectator bus to athletic eventsperform duties for teachers who are absent.
B. Teachers The Board agrees to provide individual and adequate teaching stations for all teachers which include operable heating and air conditioning systems.

2. In addition to individual teacher supply funds, the Board will not budget monies to provide departmental/grade level funds to purchase specialized materials and equipment. C. It is recognized that teachers must meet the individual needs of all students. Therefore, the Board agrees that teachers shall be provided the opportunity to share their input and recommendations in the selection of primary or supplemental materials in their grade level or content area. In addition, sufficient multi- level or multi-text materials will be provided to insure that each student has access to his or her own textbook during class. The selection of primary and supplemental materials shall be made in accordance with district policy and state law.
1. A copy of the teacher’s edition for all texts used in each course taught will be provided for each teacher of that course, when available from the publisher.
2. Teachers shall not be financially responsible for textbooks, supplies or pieces of equipment that are lost, stolen or destroyed by other persons unless that teacher is found negligent by the administration. Teachers are expected to exercise reasonable control, under the direction of the principal, over textbooks, supplies, and technology equipment.
D. The Board shall agrees to make available in each school adequate office equipment and copying facilities to aid teachers in the preparation of instructional materials. Paper for reproducing sufficient copies will be provided.
E. There shall continue to be a functioning instructional materials center (library) in each school staffed in accordance to need as established by the Board.
F. The Board shall provide procedures that allow full opportunity for all teachers to be involved in such activities as: reviewing and evaluation of books and other instructional materials; participation in comprehensive planning; accomplishment of other curriculum instruction tasks involving review, analysis, and/or evaluation. All teachers shall be required, when assigned by their principal, to participate in such activities. The final recommendations of each committee shall be duplicated and distributed to all schools affected and to the Board.
G. The Board shall provide in each school: restrooms and lavatory facilities for teacher use and at least a minimum of one (1) room appropriately furnished, which faculty lounge for teacher use. The faculty lounge shall be reservedprimarily for use of faculty, for the use as a faculty workroomstaff, and administrators. Provision for such facilities will be made in all future buildings.

TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. 6.1 The parties recognize that the availability of optimum school facilities for both student and teacher is desirable to insure the high quality of education. Under normal circumstances, the Board will insure that the use of District facilities will be scheduled during the normal school day in a manner that give priority to K-12 instructional programs. It is also acknowledged that the primary duty and responsibility of the teacher is to teach and that the organization of the school and the school day should be directed toward insuring that both the competency and energy of the teacher are primarily utilized to this end.
6.2 The Board agrees to keep the schools reasonably and properly equipped with instructional materials and shall have such materials available at the opening of the school year except when unexpected conditions prevent compliance with this provision. Instructional materials used in the district shall reflect the multi-ethnic nature of our society and shall evidence sensitivity to prejudice, to stereotypes, to sexism, and to materials offensive to ethnic groups. Media centers shall be charged with the responsibility of seeking and maintaining material of this nature. Teachers shall participate in the selection of supplies, resource and instructional materials and tests.
6.3 While it is agreed that planning is an integral part of effective teaching, lesson plans shall not be routinely submitted for the perusal and attendant approval to any supervisor. Plans shall be available to the supervisor for planning and consultation upon request as well as in cases of teacher absences.
6.4 Security of school money shall be considered the Board's responsibility, and no teacher shall be required to keep any school funds in his/her desk, on his/her person, or in his/her possession.
6.5 All teachers require time, space and facilities to prepare materials and plan work. The Board shall provide in every school a teacher work area containing adequate equipment and facilities to aid in planning and preparation, including typewriter and duplicating machine. The work area shall be in addition to and separate from the faculty lounge facilities provided in each building. Telephone facilities shall be made available for reasonable use. Employees shall reimburse the Board for all personal toll calls. Employees shall report all toll calls on a form which will be provided by the Board. The principal is responsible for filing reports and including remittance for toll payments for non-school calls with the Business Office.
6.6 Properly maintained parking facilities shall be made available for school personnel during the school hours. School buildings will be cleaned on a scheduled basis and the responsibilities for said cleaning rests with the administration. The cleaning schedule of respective buildings will be posted in an appropriate location.
6.7 The Board shall provide:
a. A separate desk and file cabinet for each teacher.
b. Closet space for each teacher to store his/her coat, overshoes, and personal articles.
c. Adequate storage in each classroom for instructional materials.
d. Teacher edition copies, if available, exclusively for each teacher's use, of all texts used in the courses s/he is to teach.
e. A dictionary in each classroom.
f. A sufficient supply of paper, dittos, pencils, chalk, and other classroom materials for the conduct of instruction.
g. Updated reference materials.
h. A protective outer garment (▇▇▇▇▇ or shop coat) for teachers of special education, home economics, industrial arts, science, and art as a protection against excessive damage resulting from machinery, tools, materials used in their work or activities related to their work, if requested by the teacher.
6.8 All past practices regarding teaching hours shall remain in effect. The ratio of students to counselor will continue as in the past.
6.9 All substitute teachers employed by the Board shall meet the requirements of the Michigan Certification Code. When a day-to-day substitute is needed for up to five days in Adult and Community Education, preference will be given to those teachers already working within the absent teacher's particular program (School Based, Preschool, Summer School, Driver Education, Career Education), whose hours do not conflict. Each semester or at the beginning of the summer school and driver education program, as the case may be, the Administration shall prepare a list of those teachers who wish to substitute in their program and shall call upon them for substituting first. The offer of substitute work shall be done on an equitable basis. Teachers shall provide, except in cases of emergency, at least two (2) hours prior notification to the appropriate Adult and Community Education office when they are unable to report to work.
6.10 Teachers shall not be under obligation required to supervise perform tasks which endanger their health, safety or well being. The district will be in compliance with local, county, state, and federal statutes and codes. Within one hour of a spectator bus loss of electrical power, while students are in attendance, the administration will inform the staff of a plan of action. If necessary, school shall also be canceled in buildings without heat or water. In other instances, the Board shall determine when conditions warrant the closing of schools. All teachers are required to athletic events.

TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. Teachers shall not be under obligation 10.01 The Board recognizes that appropriate texts, library reference facilities, computers, computer programs, and software, maps, globes, laboratory equipment, audio-visual equipment, art supplies, athletic equipment, current periodicals, standardized tests and questionnaires, and similar materials are the tools of the teaching profession. E. Parking 10.07 In any situation, when in the opinion of the Administration it is advisable to discontinue regular classes for pupils, teachers will be informed, as soon as possible, of their teaching schedule for that day if it deviates from the regular school day for teachers.
A. When students are not required to report to school because of adverse weather, teachers will not be required to report.
B. If road conditions in a given teacher's area are deemed unsafe, he/she is expected to call his/her principal or immediate supervisor to explain the situation and to report as soon as conditions permit. Under extreme and unusual conditions the principal or immediate supervisor may determine that driving conditions are unsuitable and the employee may be excused from work. Unless prior permission to remain away from work is granted, time lost will be deducted from the employee's sick leave.
C. In the event the district will lose state aid because the number of days of instruction falls below the minimum number of days required to receive full state aid as per the foundation grant and the district determines that the days will be made up in order to qualify for full state aid as per the foundation grant, teachers will work the rescheduled day without additional pay. The Association will be consulted as to the make-up schedule.
10.08 Where practicable, properly maintained and identified parking facilities shall will be made available for school personnel during school hours. Reserved parking for faculty only will be provided for each teacher’s useat the high schools.
F. Beginning teachers shall 10.09 A teacher may be given special consideration selected by the Administration to be a teacher-in-charge of the building and personnel in regard the absence of the administrative personnel. 10.12 The Board will not require teachers to report for work on days/hours school is called off due to road conditions or other causes. 10.13 Adequate rooms, equipment, and furniture will be at no added cost provided to all student services teachers in the District.
I. The Board shall provide for each teacher a separate desk and a locked file cabinet, or secured storage space in each building building(s) to which they are assigned. Where possible, student services teachers will not be required to share office space in their home base building.
J. Teachers will be provided supplies for their teaching assignments. Supplies and equipment will be ordered on a timely basis so as to be available when they are needed. 10.14 If the supplies are not available four (4) weeks prior to their needtemperature in the classroom is less than 60 degrees Fahrenheit or more than 85 degrees Fahrenheit when the heating system, ventilation system, or cooling system is at fault, the teacher involved and/or the REA representative will advise meet with the building principal and the students will be relocated to a more suitable learning environment. If there are building-wide conditions that may adversely affect the health and welfare of the teachers, a designee for the Superintendent will contact the Association President.
10.15 The term "school health service" will mean any act or function constituting the "practice of medicine" within the meaning of Section 17001 of the Public Health Code (MCL 333.17001). First aid is not the major responsibility of teachers, but teachers are expected to act in a reasonable and prudent manner which may include aid in life threatening circumstances or the dispensing of medication on field trips in circumstances where the child is to have the medication on the field trip and no other person designated to dispense that medication is present. No teacher will otherwise be expected to provide school health services or otherwise dispense medication in a manner that is prohibited by law.
10.16 No teacher will be expected to take care of student bathroom needs including catheterization, changing diapers or cleaning up after accidents.
10.17 A teacher directed to pack his/her classroom materials in their entirety for moving to a different building or due to building renovation or construction will receive the ad-hoc rate in Section 26.04 to a maximum of ten (10) hours, which includes both packing and unpacking. Unless otherwise agreed to in advance between the supervisor and the teacher, a teacher directed to pack only a portion of his/her classroom materials for moving to a different building, or a teacher working in an office-type setting who is directed to pack his/her materials in their entirety for moving to a different building or
10.18 Coverage for absences may include the use of a guest teacher, the use of a teacher volunteer during his/her planning period, or the use of an administrator. However, if the school district determines that it does not have enough available substitute coverage for a particular school day, teachers attending internal district professional development/curriculum programs will advise central office. TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. Parking facilities shall When, in the judgement of the administrative officials authorized to make such decisions, hazardous weather conditions prevent the opening of school, teachers will not be provided for each teacher’s userequired to report to work. Notice of closing will be given through local radio stations at the earliest possible time. On such days teachers are requested to tune into local stations. If this should occur on a previously scheduled in-service day, the teachers may be requested to report.
F. TEACHING CONDITIONS. The Board and the P.T.S. recognize that the availability of optimum school facilities for both student and teacher is desirable to insure the high quality of education that is the goal of both the P.T.S. and the Board. It is also acknowledged that the primary duty and responsibility of the teacher is to teach and that the organization of the school and the school day should be directed at insuring that the energy of the teacher is primarily utilized to this end.
A. Teachers shall Because the student-teacher ratio is an important aspect of an effective educational program, the Board and the P.T.S. agree that the ideal class size should not exceed twenty-five students per classroom, and that there should be under obligation one grade per classroom whenever possible. The Board, with input from the Superintendent and the P.T.S., will attempt to supervise a spectator bus provide the least disruptive teaching setting, to athletic eventsachieve this goal, within budgetary limits of the State’s funding.

TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. 6.1 The parties recognize that the availability of optimum school facilities for both student and teacher is desirable to ensure the high quality of education. Under normal circumstances, the Board will ensure that the use of District facilities will be scheduled during the normal school day in a manner that gives priority to Pre K-12 instructional programs. It is also acknowledged that the primary duty and responsibility of the teacher is to teach and that the organization of the school and the school day should be directed toward ensuring that both the competency and energy of the teacher are primarily utilized to this end.
6.2 The Board agrees to keep the schools reasonably and properly equipped with instructional materials and shall have such materials available at the opening of the school year except when unexpected conditions prevent compliance with this provision. Instructional materials used in the district shall reflect the multi-ethnic nature of our society and shall evidence sensitivity to prejudice, to stereotypes, to sexism, and to materials offensive to ethnic groups. Media centers shall be charged with the responsibility of seeking and maintaining material of this nature. Teachers shall participate in the selection of supplies, resource and instructional materials and tests.
6.3 While it is agreed that planning is an integral part of effective teaching, lesson plans shall not be routinely submitted for the perusal and attendant approval to any supervisor. Plans shall be available to the supervisor for planning and consultation upon request as well as in cases of teacher absences.
6.4 Security of school money shall be considered the Board's responsibility, and no teacher shall be required to keep any school funds in his/her desk, on his/her person, or in his/her possession.
6.5 All teachers require time, space and facilities to prepare materials and plan work. The Board shall provide in every school a teacher work area containing adequate equipment and facilities to aid in planning and preparation. The work area shall be in addition to and separate from the faculty lounge facilities provided in each building. Telephone facilities shall be made available for reasonable use.
6.6 Properly maintained parking facilities shall be made available for school personnel during the school hours. School buildings will be cleaned on a scheduled basis and the responsibilities for said cleaning rests with the administration. The cleaning schedule of respective buildings will be posted in an appropriate location.
6.7 The Board shall provide:
a. A file cabinet for each teacher.
b. Closet space for each teacher to store his/her coat and personal articles.
c. Adequate storage in each classroom for instructional materials.
d. Teacher edition copies, if available, exclusively for each teacher's use, of all texts used in the courses s/he is to teach.
e. A sufficient supply of paper and other classroom materials.
f. Updated reference materials.
6.8 All past practices regarding teaching hours shall remain in effect.
6.9 The Board agrees all substitute teacher shall meet the requirements of the program grantee. Teachers shall provide, except in cases of emergency, at least two (2) hours prior notification to the office when they are unable to report to work.
6.10 Teachers shall not be under obligation required to supervise perform tasks which endanger their health, safety or well-being. The district will be in compliance with local, county, state, and federal statutes and codes. Within one hour of a spectator bus loss of electrical power, while students are in attendance, the administration will inform the staff of a plan of action. If necessary, school shall also be canceled in buildings without heat or water. In other instances, the Board shall determine when conditions warrant the closing of schools. All teachers are required to athletic events.

TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. The Board shall continue to maintain those faculty rooms in the buildings where they now exist. Should there be any renovation of buildings or new buildings built, teacher collaboration space shall be included in the renovated/new building. Teachers shall be provided an opportunity to provide input into the teacher collaboration space.
B. The Board shall provide separate rest room facilities in each building for the exclusive use of the faculty.
C. The teachers will be permitted to maintain vending machines in all faculty lounges and the profits from these machines will be placed in a separate activity fund. A committee of building teachers and the principal shall decide expenditures of these funds.
D. The Board will provide adequate supplies, materials, and textbooks and coordinate the ordering of supplies and materials with curriculum. Teachers shall identify in writing to the building principal, the inadequacies of supplies, textbooks, and materials needed for their classrooms for the next school year prior to May 15, in order to allow the administration and Board time to budget for these items. Such request should include prioritization of and reasons for the request. The requisition shall be based on the administration's latest enrollment projections. If a teacher does not provide a written request by May 15, the administration and Board cannot guarantee that a teacher's request will be granted. Additional requisitions due to changes in enrollment may be made by the teacher throughout the year as necessary. A written response will be given for each and every written requisition concerning its final status. The response is to include items approved, items rejected and statement of justification for rejection as shown on the requisition form. For requests made prior to May 15, a written response will be made to the teacher no later than June 20. Other requests will receive a written response within ten (10) working days.
E. The Rolling Hills Board of Education will provide adequate parking and lighting facilities for all teachers at their assigned buildings.
F. Classroom interruptions are to be kept to a minimum. Specific announcement periods over public address systems shall be assigned and adhered to except in case of emergency. The administration shall arrange the work schedules of custodians and matrons to limit the conflict with the regular school day activities.
G. Teachers shall have safe and healthful conditions under which to carry out their professional duties.
H. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ assistance may be provided to make routine entries and transfers on pupil records, attendance, parent notification and to help with the issuance of inventories of textbooks and supplies. School-wide testing programs shall utilize machine graded tests, if such tests are available in that form, unless otherwise requested by the teachers administering the tests. Every effort will be made by principals and supervisors to reduce the amount of paperwork required of teachers, so that the largest possible percentage of their time will be spent in actual planning and teaching.
I. Teachers may not be required to supervise pupils outside of the regular instructional classroom within the work day except as follows:
1. Teachers may supervise hallways, in the immediate vicinity of their classroom. Only in those situations which cannot be rectified by room assignment shall a teacher be assigned duty in another section of the building.
2. Teachers shall work cooperatively with administration in rest room supervision.
3. The principal shall discuss with the teacher an assignment to supervise a study hall.
4. Teachers shall not be under obligation required to supervise a spectator bus to athletic events.

TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. Teachers The employer shall not intentionally expose a teacher to unnecessary embarrassment or disparagement. All teachers shall have a duty-free lunch period on the condition that a principal-faculty committee establishes an equitable duty schedule for all teachers that will provide supervision for students during lunch. E. The length of the teacher's professional day shall be 7.5 hours, unless reduced by the Superintendent or building principal.

Recognizing that efficient use of employed teachers is of the utmost importance to the district and will most benefit the students, there shall be no double assignments (“double assignment” is defined as teaching two different courses during the same class period) of teachers unless team teaching is being used or with teacher agreement.
I. At the conclusion of each school year, the teacher may present a separate desk written evaluation of his/her program and a locked file cabinet, or secured storage space in each building to which they are assignedrecommendations for improvement.

The final approval of the plan must be made by mutual approval of the committees' recommendation by both the Fairview School Board and the Board of Directors of the Fairview Education Association. Present lesson plan procedures and forms will be followed until a new plan is adopted. G. All teachers shall accept corridor and playground supervision responsibilities when such supervision is needed. Employer also recognizes that this appropriate ratio can fluctuate depending upon size of the classroom, Teacher aide time, time for preparation and subject matter being taught. The Employer shall strive, whenever possible, to reduce the pupil-teacher ratio. In most cases, a pupil-teacher ratio should not be under obligation exceed 30 to supervise 1 per class hour. Teachers shall not The Association agrees that although the primary responsibility of the instructional staff is concerned with the classroom, the responsibility of supervising students at all times is necessary. Auxiliary personnel will be under obligation utilized to supervise a spectator bus to athletic eventsperform non- instructional duties (i.e. clerical, such as entering previous quarter transfer grades into Skyward, filing/organizing CUME folders, etc.) as much as possible.

E. Exceptions to the workday on occasion may be made for unusual circumstances with the consent of the Principal or immediate supervisor.

L. Teachers The Association and the Board wholeheartedly support parent and community involvement in grades K-4 shall schools. Classroom visits, other than by Flagler Schools employees, will be provided two (2) half-day release times at announced through email with the end of anticipated date and time. When the first visit is by a parent(s), it will be scheduled through administration and second marking periods for card marking and record keepingthe instructional staff.
M. Both parties agree that it is necessary for interruptions to be made from time to time during the instructional periods for the efficient operation of the school. Principals will be advised to keep interruptions from maintenance, custodial, and intercom to a minimum as is feasible.
N. Department heads/lead instructional staff shall be defined as instructional staff appointed by the principal. The principal may appoint department heads/lead instructional staff for each subject/grade level.
O. All high school instructional staff shall have a planning/preparation period during the workday which shall not be less than fifty (50) continuous minutes. All middle school instructional staff shall have a planning/preparation period during the workday which shall not be less than forty-five (45) continuous minutes. In addition, instructional staff shall be guaranteed an additional five (5) minutes of each building planning/preparation time during the instructional staff workday. All elementary instructional staff shall have a planning/preparation time during the student day which shall not be less than forty-five (45) continuous minutes with an additional five (5) minutes for transitions for a total of fifty (50) continuous minutes. In addition, instructional staff shall be guaranteed an additional ten (10) minutes of planning/preparation time during the instructional staff workday. An instructional staff may choose to waive their planning in accordance with Article XX Section K. Instructional staff who do not have a roster of students for consistent instructional contact are not entitled to a planning period and EA representatives are ineligible for additional compensation as defined in Article XXV, Section K. These employees shall mutually agree work with their administration/supervisors to establish a flexible work schedule conducive to the expectations of their work duties.
P. Flexible time is defined as the altering of the normal work schedule. Employees are entitled to one hundred fifty (150) minutes of flexible time per month during non-instructional time (i.e., before and after school, during lunch and planning). Prior notice of when flexible time will be taken must be provided to administration along with make-up dates/times. Unless prior written notice is provided to administration, an appropriate employee’s absence from work shall not be counted as flexible time. Any amount of flexible time used by an instructional staff shall be made up within a two-week timeframe. The phrase “after school” shall be defined as when the first group of students is dismissed from class, not including the dismissal of students that may require earlier dismissal due to special needs. Reasons for use of flex shall not be required.
Q. Instructional staff shall have adequate access to telephone facilities to ensure safety and reasonable professional dress code parent contact. Efforts will be made to afford privacy to the employee for staffschool related calls. Instructional staff shall not be required to use personal cell phones or electronic devices for school related purposes.
R. At times, instructional staff may be required to attend meetings during planning/preparation time. Instructional staff may be required to attend up to six

TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. The Board shall continue to maintain those faculty rooms in the buildings where they now exist. Should there be any renovation of buildings or new buildings built, teacher collaboration space shall be included in the renovated/new building. Teachers shall be provided an opportunity to provide input into the teacher collaboration space.
B. The Board shall provide separate rest room facilities in each building for the exclusive use of the faculty.
C. The teachers will be permitted to maintain vending machines in all faculty lounges and the profits from these machines will be placed in a separate activity fund. A committee of building teachers and the principal shall decide expenditures of these funds.
D. The Board will provide adequate supplies, materials, and textbooks and coordinate the ordering of supplies and materials with curriculum. Teachers shall identify in writing to the building principal, the inadequacies of supplies, textbooks, and materials needed for their classrooms for the next school year prior to May 15, in order to allow the administration and Board time to budget for these items. Such request should include prioritization of and reasons for the request. The requisition shall be based on the administration's latest enrollment projections. If a teacher does not provide a written request by May 15, the administration and Board cannot guarantee that a teacher's request will be granted. Additional requisitions due to changes in enrollment may be made by the teacher throughout the year as necessary. A written response will be given for each and every written requisition concerning its final status. The response is to include items approved, items rejected and statement of justification for rejection as shown on the requisition form. For requests made prior to May 15, a written response will be made to the teacher no later than June 20. Other requests will receive a written response within ten (10) working days.
E. The Rolling Hills Board of Education will provide adequate parking and lighting facilities for all teachers at their assigned buildings.
F. Classroom interruptions are to be kept to a minimum. Specific announcement periods over public address systems shall be assigned and adhered to except in case of emergency. The administration shall arrange the work schedules of custodians and matrons to limit the conflict with the regular school day activities.
G. Teachers shall have safe and healthful conditions under which to carry out their professional duties.
▇. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ assistance may be provided to make routine entries and transfers on pupil records, attendance, parent notification and to help with the issuance of inventories of textbooks and supplies. School-wide testing programs shall utilize machine graded tests, if such tests are available in that form, unless otherwise requested by the teachers administering the tests. Every effort will be made by principals and supervisors to reduce the amount of paperwork required of teachers, so that the largest possible percentage of their time will be spent in actual planning and teaching.
I. Teachers may not be required to supervise pupils outside of the regular instructional classroom within the work day except as follows:
1. Teachers may supervise hallways, in the immediate vicinity of their classroom. Only in those situations which cannot be rectified by room assignment shall a teacher be assigned duty in another section of the building.
2. Teachers shall work cooperatively with administration in rest room supervision.
3. The principal shall discuss with the teacher an assignment to supervise a study hall.
4. Teachers shall not be under obligation required to supervise a spectator bus to athletic events.

The Board will provide school building keys and ID Badges necessary to the normal function of the teacher, provided such keys and ID Badges shall be turned in upon the termination of the teacher's employment and/or upon completion of the school year. The employee shall not incur any costs for ID Badges that need to be replaced due to normal wear and tear, limited to a two year cycle. Lost ID Badges shall be replaced at a cost to the employee not to exceed the cost of replacement. D. The Board shall make available rest room and lavatory facilities exclusively for teacher use. Also, there shall be one room, appropriately furnished with desk and chair and facilities for use and at least one (1) room appropriately furnishedof an electric coffee maker if desired, which shall be reserved, reserved for the use as a faculty workroomlounge. H. Recognizing that efficient use of employed teachers is of the utmost importance to the district and will most benefit the students, there shall be no double assignments. (“double assignment” is defined as teaching two different courses during the same class period) of teachers unless team teaching is being used or with teacher agreement.
I. At the conclusion of each school year, the teacher may present a separate desk written evaluation of his/her program and a locked file cabinet, or secured storage space in each building to which they are assignedrecommendations for improvement.
J. General announcements to students will be limited to three times per day except in cases of emergency. The times for the announcements will be given to the teachers at the first meeting of the year.

10.05. The Association agrees that there are certain duties which may be assigned to teaching personnel by the building principal. In the event that it is necessary to assign teachers to non- teaching duties, which shall it will be reserved, on an equitable basis for the use as a faculty workroomentire staff.
10.06. Provision for such Telephone facilities will be made in all future buildings.
D. Existing telephone facilities shall continue to be made available to teachers for use in conducting school businessbusiness and local personal calls.
E. Parking 10.07. Upon the approval of the Superintendent and providing that space, facilities, and circumstances permit, vending machines placed in the staff room will be paid for and operated by the teachers of the building. The teachers of a particular building will assume full responsibility for the care, maintenance and monies involved. The proceeds from all such machines will be placed in a faculty fund. Such fund will be administered by the faculty in each building that has the above requested vending machines.
10.08. In any situation, when in the opinion of the Administration it is advisable to discontinue regular classes for pupils, teachers will be informed, as soon as possible, of their teaching schedule for that day if it deviates from the regular school day for teachers.
A. When students are not required to report to school because of adverse weather, teachers will not be required to report.
B. If road conditions in a given teacher's area are deemed unsafe, he/she is expected to call his/her principal or immediate supervisor to explain the situation and to report as soon as conditions permit. Under extreme and unusual conditions the principal or immediate supervisor may determine that driving conditions are unsuitable and the employee may be excused from work. Unless prior permission to remain away from work is granted, time lost will be deducted from the employee's sick leave.
C. In the event the district will lose state aid because the number of days of instruction falls below the minimum number of days required to receive full state aid as per the foundation grant and the district determines that the days will be made up in order to qualify for full state aid as per the foundation grant, teachers will work the rescheduled day without additional pay. The Association will be consulted as to the make-up schedule.
10.09. Where practicable, properly maintained and identified parking facilities shall will be made available for school personnel during school hours. Reserved parking for faculty only will be provided for each teacher’s useat the high schools.
F. Beginning teachers shall 10.10. A teacher may be given special consideration selected by the Administration to be a teacher-in-charge of the building and personnel in regard the absence of the administrative personnel. This teacher, if selected, will receive an amount stated in the Compensation Article, annually prorated, to number of preparations and class sizecompensate for this added responsibility.

TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. Teachers Section 1: The District shall not promptly meet with affected staff and fully advise them regarding the history and status of all current or prospective planning activities relating to the implementation of the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) concept in the District, including Medically Fragile, Special Education and Special Needs Students. Whether such planning has commenced or not, whenever such planning activities occur, the District shall assure that affected staff shall be under obligation to supervise a spectator bus to athletic eventsconsulted in any planning process involving the District.

In order to receive a mileage reimbursement, the traveling teacher will be responsible for submitting a completed Mileage Form at the end of each pay period for the first and second marking periods for card marking and record keepingmileage traveled during that pay period.
M. Principals Section 8: With respect to elementary student supervision: Elementary teachers should be at their classroom doors three (3) minutes before the tardy bell rings, which is the time student instructional time begins. This student “supervision” time will not increase during the life of each building and EA representatives shall mutually agree to establish an appropriate and reasonable professional dress code for staffthe Agreement.

TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. Teachers The Association agrees that although the primary responsibility of the instructional staff is concerned with the classroom, the responsibility of supervising students at all times is necessary. Auxiliary personnel will be utilized to perform non- instructional duties (i.e. clerical, such as entering transfer grades into Skyward for new students, filing/organizing CUME folders, etc.) as much as possible. In the event that it is necessary to assign instructional staff a non-instructional duty, it shall not be under obligation to supervise on a spectator bus to athletic eventsfair and equitable basis.
B. Teachers will Instructional staff shall have a duty-free lunch period of at least thirty (30) minutes. Instructional staff shall not be required to drive busesperform supervisory duties during their duty-free lunch period.
C. The Board workday shall consist of seven (7) hours, fifteen (15) minutes, with the times being set by the Principal or immediate supervisor according to the needs of each school or assignment with the approval of the Superintendent. Maximum student instructional contact time shall be twenty-seven (27) hours per week. Instructional staff starting and ending times shall be recommended to the Principal by the faculty of each school. The Principal shall make available in the final decision based on the needs of each school adequate restrooms or assignment. Instructional staff participation in extracurricular activities outside the normal working day, for which no additional compensation is paid, shall be strictly voluntary.
D. Exceptions to the workday on occasion may be made for unusual circumstances with the consent of the Principal or immediate supervisor.
E. The Board agrees to continue to provide a faculty work area and lavatory separate designated and marked restroom facilities for teacher use as currently provided, and at least one (1) room appropriately furnished, in those schools where such facilities already exist for the use of instructional staff. All newly constructed schools shall provide a faculty workroom and separate faculty restroom facilities.
F. Instructional staff are expected to make themselves available for student and parent conferences which shall be reservedduring the normal workday, for except when parents cannot meet during the use as a faculty workroomschool day. Provision for such facilities will be made in all future buildings.

G. It is understood and accepted that instructional staff attendance at school affiliated evening meetings is desirable and beneficial. Except for illness or other emergencies, instructional staff will be expected to attend up to (2) such meetings each year where parents visit classrooms and/or confer with instructional staff. Each meeting shall last no longer than one and one half hour.
H. The Board will not require teachers to report for work on days/hours school is called off due to road conditions or other causes. Should State statutes or regulations change, the parties will comply with the new statute or regulations. Any required make up days or hours Regularly scheduled monthly faculty meetings will be held. One (1) faculty meeting per month may exceed the normal working day but in no event exceed thirty (30) minutes beyond the working day, except that in emergency situations, faculty meetings may be called when necessary. Additionally, during pre-planning, instructional staff shall have at no added cost least the equivalent of one and a half days to work, uninterrupted by meetings of any kind, in their classrooms to prepare for the Districtstart of school with students.
I. The Board When school is not in session, instructional staff shall provide for each teacher a separate desk and a locked file cabinet, or secured storage space in each be given access to the building to which they are assignedby arranging such access with the principal.
J. Teachers The Association and the Board wholeheartedly support parent and community involvement in schools. Classroom visits by non-school personnel will be provided supplies for their teaching assignmentsannounced through email with the anticipated date, time and duration. All elementary instructional staff shall have a planning/preparation time during the student day which shall not be less than forty-five (45) continuous minutes with an additional five (5) minutes for transitions for a total of fifty (50) continuous minutes. In addition, instructional staff shall be guaranteed an additional ten (10) minutes of planning/preparation time during the instructional staff workday. An instructional staff may choose to waive their planning in accordance with Article XX Section K.
N. Flexible time is defined as the altering of the normal work schedule. Employees are entitled to one hundred fifty (150) minutes of flexible time per month during non-instructional time (i.e., before and EA representatives after school, during lunch and planning). Prior notice of when flexible time will be taken must be provided to administration along with make-up dates/times. Unless prior written notice is provided to administration, an employee’s absence from work shall mutually agree not be counted as flexible time. Any amount of flexible time used by an instructional staff shall be made up within a two-week timeframe. The phrase “after school” shall be defined as when the first group of students is dismissed from class, not including the dismissal of students that may require earlier dismissal due to establish an appropriate special needs. Reasons for use of flex shall not be required.
O. Instructional staff shall have adequate access to telephone facilities to ensure safety and reasonable professional dress code parent contact. Efforts will be made to afford privacy to the employee for staffschool related calls. Instructional staff shall not be required to use personal cell phones or electronic devices for school related purposes.
P. At times, instructional staff may be required to attend meetings during planning/preparation time. Instructional staff may be required to attend up to six

TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. Teachers shall not be under obligation 10.01 The Board recognizes that appropriate texts, library reference facilities, computers, computer programs, and software, maps, globes, laboratory equipment, audio-visual equipment, art supplies, athletic equipment, current periodicals, standardized tests and questionnaires, and similar materials are the tools of the teaching profession. Further, the Board will continue to supervise a spectator bus seek and use textbooks and supplementary reading materials, which ▇▇▇▇▇▇ equity, inclusion and cultural awareness. The Board agrees at all times to athletic eventscontinue to keep the schools reasonably equipped and maintained providing financial conditions permit.
B. Teachers 10.02 Faculty members will not be required informed upon request to drive busesthe principal as to materials, supplies, and funds available for their use.
C. 10.03 The Board shall agrees to make available the necessary equipment and supplies to aid teachers in preparation of instructional materials, providing financial conditions permit. The use of the aforementioned materials by the faculty will be in accordance with policies and priorities established by administration.
10.04 The Board will continue to provide wherever possible and practicable:
A. a desk for every teacher;
B. closet space for each teacher to store coats, overshoes, and personal articles;
C. chalkboard/white board space in every classroom;
D. copies of all texts used in each school adequate restrooms of the courses a teacher is assigned to teach including teacher manuals;
E. instructional materials storage space.
F. class books, paper, pencil, chalk, erasers, and lavatory facilities other such materials required in daily teaching responsibility.
G. a computer for every teacher H. ancillary staff will have access to a locking file cabinet or work-space at each worksite for storing student files.
10.05 The Association agrees that there are certain duties which may be assigned to teaching personnel by the building principal. The use and at least one (1) room appropriately furnishedof teachers to perform non-instructional functions will be kept to a minimum. In the event that it is necessary to assign teachers to non- teaching duties, which shall it will be reserved, on an equitable basis for the use as a faculty workroom. Provision for such entire staff.
10.06 Telephone facilities will be made in all future buildings.
D. Existing telephone facilities shall continue to be made available to teachers for use in conducting school businessbusiness and local personal calls.
E. Parking 10.07 In any situation, when in the opinion of the Administration it is advisable to discontinue regular classes for pupils, teachers will be informed, as soon as possible, of their teaching schedule for that day if it deviates from the regular school day for teachers.
A. When students are not required to report to school because of adverse weather, teachers will not be required to report.
B. If road conditions in a given teacher's area are deemed unsafe, he/she is expected to call his/her principal or immediate supervisor to explain the situation and to report as soon as conditions permit. Under extreme and unusual conditions the principal or immediate supervisor may determine that driving conditions are unsuitable and the employee may be excused from work. Unless prior permission to remain away from work is granted, time lost will be deducted from the employee's sick leave.
C. In the event the district will lose state aid because the number of days of instruction falls below the minimum number of days required to receive full state aid as per the foundation grant and the district determines that the days will be made up in order to qualify for full state aid as per the foundation grant, teachers will work the rescheduled day without additional pay. The Association will be consulted as to the make-up schedule.
10.08 Where practicable, properly maintained and identified parking facilities shall will be made available for school personnel during school hours. Reserved parking for faculty only will be provided for each teacher’s useat the high schools.
F. Beginning teachers shall 10.09 A teacher may be given special consideration selected by the Administration to be a teacher-in-charge of the building and personnel in regard the absence of the administrative personnel. This teacher, if selected, will receive an amount stated in the Compensation Article, annually prorated, to number of preparations and class sizecompensate for this added responsibility.
G. Work at athletic games outside 10.10 Normal care of regular school hours shall facilities and equipment is the duty of each teacher as part of his/her employment. When repairs or maintenance are necessary, it will be on a voluntary basisbrought to the attention of the immediate supervisor for disposition.
H. 10.11 No teacher will have transportation/student pick-up duty except in cases of emergency. However, it is understood there will always be one teacher in the building and available to assist in cases of emergency until the last bus student has left. All elementary teachers will walk their students to the designated bus area. If the transportation is not at school, the teacher will notify the principal/designee. The principal/designee will make arrangements for supervision of the students so the teacher will be able to leave the transportation area.
10.12 The Board will not require teachers to report for work on days/hours school is called off due to road conditions or other causes. Should State statutes or regulations changeprovide clean, the parties will comply with the new statute or regulations. Any required make up days or hours well-maintained classrooms.
10.13 Adequate rooms, equipment, and furniture will be at no added cost provided to all student services teachers in the District.
I. The Board shall provide for each teacher a separate desk and a locked file cabinet, or secured storage space in each building building(s) to which they are assigned. Where possible, student services teachers will not be required to share office space in their home base building.
J. Teachers will be provided supplies for their teaching assignments. Supplies and equipment will be ordered on a timely basis so as to be available when they are needed. 10.14 If the supplies are not available four (4) weeks prior to their need, temperature in the teacher will advise the principal who will advise central office. Central office will make reasonable efforts to obtain said materials from another vendor. Defective supplies will be returned to central office for appropriate credit and replacement.
K. Subject to the provisions of Board policy, teachers may obtain a key to the outside entrance door of the school the teacher classroom is assigned to for use during the school year.
L. Teachers in grades K-4 shall be provided two (2) half-day release times at the end of the first and second marking periods for card marking and record keeping.

TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. 6.1 The parties recognize that the availability of optimum school facilities for both student and teacher is desirable to insure the high quality of education. Under normal circumstances, the Board will insure that the use of District facilities will be scheduled during the normal school day in a manner that gives priority to K-12 instructional programs. It is also acknowledged that the primary duty and responsibility of the teacher is to teach and that the organization of the school and the school day should be directed toward insuring that both the competency and energy of the teacher are primarily utilized to this end.
6.2 The Board agrees to keep the schools reasonably and properly equipped with instructional materials and shall have such materials available at the opening of the school year except when unexpected conditions prevent compliance with this provision. Instructional materials used in the district shall reflect the multi-ethnic nature of our society and shall evidence sensitivity to prejudice, to stereotypes, to sexism, and to materials offensive to ethnic groups. Media centers shall be charged with the responsibility of seeking and maintaining material of this nature. Teachers shall participate in the selection of supplies, resource and instructional materials and tests.
6.3 While it is agreed that planning is an integral part of effective teaching, lesson plans shall not be routinely submitted for the perusal and attendant approval to any supervisor. Plans shall be available to the supervisor for planning and consultation upon request as well as in cases of teacher absences.
6.4 Security of school money shall be considered the Board's responsibility, and no teacher shall be required to keep any school funds in his/her desk, on his/her person, or in his/her possession.
6.5 All teachers require time, space and facilities to prepare materials and plan work. The Board shall provide in every school a teacher work area containing adequate equipment and facilities to aid in planning and preparation. The work area shall be in addition to and separate from the faculty lounge facilities provided in each building. Telephone facilities shall be made available for reasonable use.
6.6 Properly maintained parking facilities shall be made available for school personnel during the school hours. School buildings will be cleaned on a scheduled basis and the responsibilities for said cleaning rests with the administration. The cleaning schedule of respective buildings will be posted in an appropriate location.
6.7 The Board shall provide:
a. A separate desk and file cabinet for each teacher.
b. Closet space for each teacher to store his/her coat and personal articles.
c. Adequate storage in each classroom for instructional materials.
d. Teacher edition copies, if available, exclusively for each teacher's use, of all texts used in the courses s/he is to teach.
e. A sufficient supply of paper and other classroom materials.
f. Updated reference materials.
6.8 All past practices regarding teaching hours shall remain in effect. The ratio of students to counselor shall not exceed the W-WEA ratio.
6.9 All substitute teachers employed by the Board shall meet the requirements of the Michigan Certification Code. When a day-to-day substitute is needed for up to five days in Adult and Early Childhood Education, preference will be given to those teachers already working within the absent teacher's particular program, whose hours do not conflict. Teachers shall provide, except in cases of emergency, at least two (2) hours prior notification to the appropriate Adult and Early Childhood Education office when they are unable to report to work.
6.10 Teachers shall not be under obligation required to supervise perform tasks which endanger their health, safety or well being. The district will be in compliance with local, county, state, and federal statutes and codes. Within one hour of a spectator bus loss of electrical power, while students are in attendance, the administration will inform the staff of a plan of action. If necessary, school shall also be canceled in buildings without heat or water. In other instances, the Board shall determine when conditions warrant the closing of schools. All teachers are required to athletic events.

F. Beginning Teachers are expected to exercise care in their use of school equipment.
G. Teachers shall not leave a class unattended during the time instruction is normally scheduled, except in an emergency. The use of a teacher aide or student assistant does not satisfy the supervision requirement except during an emergency or a scheduled supervisory period assigned by the principal.
H. All classroom teachers will make available a hard copy or electronic access (district provided electronic plan book) general plans for one (1) week in advance.
I. Lesson plans shall enable the substitute to conduct the class in a manner that will provide lesson continuity. Plans must be available for a substitute prior to teacher reporting time on any given day.
J. When available, all teachers shall be given special consideration stationed in regard to number of preparations and the hallway at their classroom doorway between class sizechanges.

TEACHING CONDITIONS. A. Teachers The number of teachers employed by the school district shall not be under obligation adequate to supervise a spectator bus to athletic eventsprovide effective instruction, direction of extra classroom activities, counseling, and other educational services.
B. Teachers To ensure that high quality education is the goal of the Association, the administration, and the Board, it is acknowledged that the primary duty and responsibility of the members of the Association is to teach, and that the organization of the school and the school day should be directed to ensuring that the energy of the members of the Association is primarily utilized to this end. The Board of Education realizes that the pupil-teacher ratio is important to the academic success of the school system. The Board of Education also recognizes that this ratio can fluctuate depending upon size of the classroom, teacher aide time, time for preparation, etc. and will not be required to drive busesconsider teacher input regarding class size.
C. In the event that an elementary classroom will consist of split classes, the following guidelines will apply. Recognizing that split classes mean additional preparation, the Board and Association agree that every effort will be made to ensure that split class(es) will be composed of students who will be appropriately placed as determined by former teachers, receiving teachers and the building principal.
D. The Board recognizes that appropriate texts, library reference facilities, maps and globes, laboratory equipment, audio-visual equipment, art supplies, current periodicals, standard tests and questionnaires, and similar materials are the tools of the teaching profession. The parties will confer from time to time at the request of either party for the purpose of improving the selection and use of such educational tools, and the Board shall implement all joint decisions thereon made by its representatives and the Association when funds become available. Because of the critical importance of such educational tools, the Board agrees to maintain a reasonable degree of consistency from year to year in the amounts expended per grade, class, or department for such materials, the amounts to be expressed as a per-pupil percentage of the total annual budget.
E. The Board shall attempt, whenever possible, to make available in each school adequate restrooms lunchroom, restroom and lavatory facilities exclusively for teacher use and at least one (1) room appropriately furnished, which shall be reserved, for the use as a faculty workroom. Student Growth Data: Upon receipt of reports or other causesrelated information from the Michigan Department of Education on student growth data derived from performance on state assessments which assigns each student to the various teachers in a building, each teacher will be provided adequate opportunity to review the data for accuracy of the roster of students listed prior to any use of the information by the District. Should State statutes or regulations changea discrepancy be noted, the parties will comply with teacher shall have the new statute or regulations. Any required make up days or hours will be at no added cost right to provide reasons for the exclusion of the student information as part of the student growth data used in the District.
I. A. A position within the system shall be considered as vacant when the employee holding the position has resigned or retired, is discharged, demoted, promoted, transferred, on extended leaves of one (1) year or more in duration or when it is a newly created position. A position shall not be considered as vacant when such vacancy is caused by a reduction in the total teaching or administrative staff.
B. Any teacher may apply for any position within the system at any time it appears such position may become vacant. Such applications shall be in writing, addressed to the Superintendent. Such applications shall be considered by the Board should such vacancy occur at any time during the calendar year. All applicants shall be notified of the selection made by the Board within fifteen (15) days after such decision is made. All bargaining unit members will maintain all certifications held at the time of employment for the duration of employment with the district
C. In filling promotional vacancies to administrative positions the Board may consider the professional qualifications, background, attainments, and other relevant factors, including service in the school district, of all applicants from within the school system as well as of applicants from outside the school system. The parties recognize, however, that the filling of vacancies at the supervisory and administrative levels and the filling of newly created supervisory and administrative positions is a prerogative of the Board, and the decision of the Board with respect to such matters shall be final.
D. Teaching positions held by specially certified and uncertified persons and vacancies in any teaching or administrative position shall be publicized by the Board by preparing written notice of such positions and/or vacancies, and of the qualifications required, and providing a copy of such notice to the Association President. Such notice shall be delivered to the Association not less than three working days prior to the appearance of any other type of public notice by the Board other than to college placement bulletins.
E. The general procedure for filling vacancies will begin with applicants from within the current teaching staff. The Board shall provide for each teacher a separate desk and a locked file cabinetreserves the right to fill such vacancies from outside the system if, in the opinion of the Board, no applicant from within the system can satisfactorily fill the vacancy or secured storage space in each building to which they no applications are assignedreceived from within the system.
J. Teachers will F. The Association recognizes that when vacancies occur during the school year it may be provided supplies for their teaching assignmentsdifficult to fill them from within the system without undue disruption of the existing educational program. K. Subject G. Whenever vacancies occur from June 1 to the provisions of Board policystaff starting date, teachers may obtain a key the following procedure in addition to the outside entrance door procedures heretofore outlined, shall be followed:
1. Teachers with specific interest in possible vacancies shall notify the Superintendent and/or his designee of the school the teacher is assigned to for use during their interest in writing, using Schedule H, no later than June 1 of the school year.
L. Teachers 2. Should a vacancy occur, those teachers who have expressed an interest in grades K-4 said position or a similar position shall be contacted by the Superintendent and/or his designee and notified of the vacancy by the method checked on Schedule H.
3. The teachers so notified shall have the responsibility of contacting the Superintendent and/or his designee in writing indicating their interest in said position within five (5) days of the letter mailing date or receipt of notification for email for their application to be considered.
4. Applications so confirmed shall be treated as though they had been filed as provided two in Sec. B above.
H. Teachers will be assigned within the scope of their teaching certificates to a position for which they are certified and qualified.
I. The parties recognize that changes in grade assignments in the elementary school, changes in subject assignments in the secondary school grades, and transfers between schools may be advisable. When such transfers or changes are made, the procedure hereafter outlined shall be followed:
1. Teachers will be given notice in writing by his/her immediate supervisor of their tentative assignment for the coming school year no later than June 30.
2. A teacher may volunteer to transfer or change assignments and such requests may be granted by the Board. If a teacher objects to a change in assignment, he/she should submit objections in writing to the immediate supervisor within three (3) business days of assignment notification (see I, Paragraph 1. above) and the following procedure will be followed:
a. The immediate supervisor will meet with the teacher and the AEA Building Representative within three (3) business days of the written objection.
b. If a teacher is reassigned, he/she will meet with the principal to discuss reasonable support and in-service that may be mutually agreeable to the teacher and the principal. The immediate supervisor will submit such assistance for consideration by the Superintendent and the Board.
c. If a reassignment is made, the convenience and wishes of the teacher so assigned or transferred regarding working conditions may be honored to the extent that these do not conflict with instructional requirements and the best interest of pupils.
J. Job Sharing Employment conditions for participants in the Job Sharing Program are as follows:
1. The Job Sharing Agreement will be for a contractual year (as noted below). In order to continue in the program, the employee(s) must reapply for the next contractual year.
2. The employee reserves the right to return to full-time service the following year.
3. The District and the employee(s) half-day release times shall establish the daily work schedule.
4. Reimbursement shall consist of the prorated payment of salary, retirement and insurance premiums. Proration of salary and benefits shall be at the end same fraction as that worked.
5. The District, the employee(s) participating in job sharing, and the Association President shall sign the agreement as provided in Schedule F.
K. The Board shall contribute to the Public Schools Employees Retirement System only those amounts it is required to contribute by law. In the event a teacher desires to make a contribution to the Member Investment Plan Fund created by 1985 P.A. 91, the Board will make the contribution on behalf of the first and second marking periods for card marking and record keepingteacher by making a reduction in the teacher's salary in an amount equal to the teacher's contribution.
M. Principals of each building and EA representatives shall mutually agree to establish an appropriate and reasonable professional dress code for staff.
